Upcoming Meeting Reminder

WCCA volunteers helped transform the landscape in front of Rockley Music. With 20+ people and help from Calahan Construction, the project was completed on a Saturday morning!
Don't miss the LAST WCCA meeting of 2017 this Wednesday, November 15th, 7:30am, at 40W Gallery (1560 Teller Street). This month will feature an expanded presentation from Lakewood Economic Development, a brief update on the latest at the Creativity Lab of Colorado, and more! 

Members and friends are encouraged to attend the meeting to network and  hear the latest news from elected officials, corridor representatives, neighbors, and business owners. Enjoy f ree coffee and breakfast items. Meetings start promptly at 7:30am and wrap up by 9am. 

WCCA meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 1560 Teller St., Lakewood 80214. There will be no meeting in December of 2017. The next meeting on January 17th, 2018. Join in!

Volunteers Make Rockley Business Beautification Project a Success 
   
A big THANK YOU to all who braved the wind on the morning of Saturday, October 21 to complete WCCA's second Business Beautification Project of the year. What a wonderful group and a great day of camaraderie with the Rockley family and staff! Have a look at the PDF here--a remarkable change from "before" to "after" ... all in less than three hours! We are also forever grateful to Don Calahan, his brothers and team at Calahan Construction for the equipment and talent! We couldn't have done it without you--Thank you, Don--and thank you to all the WCCA volunteers who make the Business Beautification Projects possible! 
 
40W ArtLine Pilot Project Begins to Color West Colfax Corridor

The ArtLine project is in full swing with lots of exciting updates to share! In October, the green line pilot project and ground murals (complete with an interactive hopscotch game designed by 40 West Artist in Residence James Overstreet) was painted by the City of Lakewood and community volunteers around the Mountair Park portion of the route. Most of the art elements will be installed next spring and the launch celebration is planned for June 2018. Recently, muralists have been selected to paint ground murals and interactive games along the 4-mile route. Stay tuned for the official launch of the ArtLine website coming soon, which will carry updates on installations, events, volunteer opportunities, and more.

RMCAD Announces Future Plan

RMCAD President Chris Spohn spoke to a crowd of 200+ at the college's recent "Glimpse of the Future" event, a festive campus gathering on October 19th. Sp ohn

showcased plans for continued investment in facilities and technology on the histori c campus while continuing to support and attract top-notch instructors to the school and more deeply engage with the local creative community--all as part of the its ongoing commitment to providing an exceptional student experience. He also mentioned the possibility of bringing a degree program in Film Studies to RMCAD in the next year. 
 
RMCAD also launched a new website. The updated site offers a more accessible design, while bringing more focus to content that best represents the spirit of RMCAD.Visit the new website here
 
First-ever West Colfax Ambassador Training Class Completed on Nov. 4th 

Local authors, historians and community advocates Bob and Kris Autobee conducted the first-ever West Colfax Ambassador Training Class for a group of eight attendees at the Creativity Lab of Colorado on November 4th.

West Colfax Ambassadors are volunteers who will serve in the community, helping visitors to the district during local events and staffing the Lakewood-West Colfax visitors center that is slated to open at Lamar Station Plaza in the second half of 2018. Mountair Community Farm Agriculture Shares Now on Sale at Mountair Park 
 
Weekly shares of the farm's harvest are now on sale for 2018! It's like pre-paid grocery shopping! Visit the Mountair Park Community Farm each Wednesday 4-6pm from late June to late October and get a box full of seasonal vegetables to take home! Veggie/herb/flower shares are $450 (payment plans available), and the farm also offers fruit, egg, mushroom, and tea/honey shares through other local partners. CornerStone Auto Glass to Open on West Colfax

CornerStone Auto Glass will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 14th. The event will be onsite at 8390 W. Colfax Ave. from 5-7pm with the actual cutting of the ribbon planned at 5:30pm.
