ISA Executive Director James Skiera is Retiring!
After more than 22 years of service, James Skiera has announced his retirement effective by the end of 2017.
"Jim's contributions to the success of ISA has been invaluable" said ISA Board President Michelle Mitchell. "His passion and dedication to the profession of arboriculture is widely recognized and appreciated. The ISA Board of Directors expects to find a new executive director who will build upon Jim's work within the organization. Click here for more information.
Public Review: ANSI Z133 Standard Revisions
Current revisions to sections of the ANSI Z133-2012 Standard for Arboricultural Operations-Safety Requirements are available for a 30-day public review period from November 18 through December 18, 2016. This is the best way to learn pruning by seeing for yourself how structure is improved with selected pruning cuts in the right position. This week-long intensive educational program delivers a challenging opportunity to grow a more successful community tree program. Come learn and master leadership and management tools of program administration, coalition building, strategic thinking, program planning, and public relations by investing a week in your personal growth and development.
Thanks to a grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the USDA Forest Service, SMA is offering scholarships to the Municipal Forestry Institute (MFI) at the Lake Arrowhead, CA February 19-24, 2017. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a resident of, and employed in, the state of California, AND
2. Demostrate need for financial attendance in order to attend MFI
Scholarships of $1000 each will be awarded based on job position, geographic are represented, and date of application. When applying for a scholarship if you meet these criteria. Application deadline is December 15, 2016. Information about the MFI maybe found at
