In this newsletter, the Women in Engineering Program (WEP) invites you to the final few WE Connects. Register TODAY!  We also provide information on the engineering student organizations WEP sponsors through our Leadership Collaborative. 

    

The University of Texas at Austin has over 1,000 student organizations for you to get involved with! Whether you want to volunteer in the community, participate in recreational sports, or just meet others in your same major, there is an organization for everyone! You can see a list of registered student organizations online and start picking out your favorites today. You can also see the engineering organizations within the Cockrell School!

Women In Aerospace for Leadership and Development (WIALD), a student organization for women in the Cockrell School (and not just Aerospace Engineering majors!), has had the opportunity to participate in several real-world projects, including their high altitude balloon launch over 100,00 feet into the atmosphere! Watch below to see the footage from the camera on the balloon! 

 

If that wasn't cool enough, this past year they also did a project hosted by NASA to test how their liquid-crystal polymer material, Vectran, burns in microgravity! Several of the undergraduate members got the chance to test in zero-gravity conditions in Houston!
