WEConnect International CEO Joins UN Panel on Women's Economic Empowerment

CEO and Co-Founder of WEConnect International Elizabeth A. Vazquez, will serve on the newly formed UN Secretary-General's High Level Panel on Women's Economic Empowerment. 
I n addition to the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, Panel Members will include world leaders such as the President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo SolĂ­s Rivera, and the CEO of IKEA, Simona Scarpaleggio.

"It is an honor to serve as a Panel Member with so many prestigious champions of women's economic empowerment," said Vazquez. "More money in the hands of women means more prosperity for all of us and is at the heart of long-term economic stability and development. I am confident that the Panel will be able to effect meaningful global impact at scale."

Breaking the glass ceiling for female executives

Executive Director of WEConnect International in China Su Cheng Harris-Simpson recently sat down with CCTV English to discuss the state of gender parity in China's business world. According to Su Cheng:

"Right now it's still really a men's world. There are more male executives than women, for that, we need men to support and help to mentor and sponsor more women into executive level positions. Right now I believe it's not equal. Our time and our services are not valued equally. And that shows in pay, the lower pay and contracts we get, and so forth. So I think by having us revalued at that same level would be very, very helpful."

Buzz Export Services Honored by Delta

Delta recognized the contributions of its top small-business, minority-owned and women-owned supplier partners during the annual Supplier Diversity Star Awards event Wednesday, March 9, at the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta. Among those honored was Australian certified women's business enterprise Buzz Export Services.

Star Awards honorees are nominated and selected by a review committee based on several categories including quality, value creation, innovation, customer service, cost savings and community involvement
