Sunday, March 25, 2018 - JESUS' LAST WORDS
Beginnings and endings are memorable moments in life. We remember our children’s first words and our parents' last words. We celebrate first days at school and our accomplishments at graduation. We experience joy in a baby’s birth at Christmas and hope through his death and resurrection at Easter. This year during Lent we will focus on the final, memorable words of Christ, as experienced by those near the cross. Each week we will reflect on these seven statements and seek to understand their meaning for our lives today. Join us on a journey to the empty tomb as we explore Jesus’ Last Words.

CHANGES TO OUR ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL PROGRAM!
As mentioned a few weeks ago, the Adult Sunday School team is using the time of Lent to refresh and broaden what we have been doing during the Sunday School hour from 9:15-10:15 on Sunday mornings. For starters, we are in the process of turning the Parlor into a new focus area for adult refreshment and connection. We plan to give that space a new name, which at least for now is The Well; Connect, Refresh, Transform. We are also changing the name of the Adult Sunday School Program to Adult Connections Time on Sundays (A.C.T.S.). This name change underscores our goal of creating a time of connection and community for all Adults, not just for those interested in traditional "Sunday school classes. " Over time we hope to be able to grow small group sharing times, discussions, and classes as well as a place to just welcome and share conversation with those who are not quite ready to join a 'class.' So keep watching as we evolve, and contact the church office if you have ideas or comments or would like to contact or join the A.C.T.S. team. Meanwhile, we are set to announce our first A.C.T.S. offering after Easter (see below), and will be adding others to the mix perhaps this Spring but certainly when the Sunday school program returns in the fall.
“Be Still and Know that I am God”
An Adult Connections Time on Sundays (A.C.T.S.) Intro to Prayer and Meditation

Did you know meditation guides us into a deeper life with God, enabling us to pray on-target prayers and helping us to know more deeply the ways of God?   A meditation practice tunes you in, helps you get in touch with the Holy Spirit, and find peace from within. Join Karen Bruno for an introduction session to Prayer and Meditation on April 15 at 9:15AM in the Upper Room (second floor across from Choir room).  The session will start with a breathing exercise followed by a prayer-based meditation, and will conclude with a group discussion. We will be offering the following prayer and meditation hours as follows; feel free to come to any or all as your interest and schedule dictate!

4/15 - Introduction to Prayer and Meditation
4/22 - Earth Day Prayer - God's creations on Earth
5/13 - Special Mother's Day Prayer
5/20 - Special prayer for confirmation class
BOOK OF ACTS BIBLE STUDY STARTS TUESDAY, MARCH 27!

The book of   The Acts of the Apostles  focuses on the empowering of the apostles by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and their subsequent sharing of the gospel message   "in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). This bible study will be led by Rev. Galen Black. He is looking forward to exploring these scriptures and learning together how to apply them to our lives in the world today. Questions? Email Rev. Black or call 440-318-4505.

GOING DEEPER! SERMON BASED DISCUSSION: JESUS' LAST WORDS
CONCLUDES WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28 @ 7PM IN THE PARLOR!
Have you ever left Sunday worship with questions? Feeling a need to know more? The purpose behind sermon-based small group discussion is to build community together while focusing on the previous Sunday’s sermon. But it's more than just a rehash of the sermon; the goal is to take the main point from the sermon and dig deeper into scripture and it's application in our everyday lives. Discussion guides will be provided each week to help you discern what the message is saying to you. Missed the sermon on Sunday? Just take a few minutes to listen online before joining the group.

LADIES' EVENING BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES APRIL 3!
6-week study of Ruth with the book, A Woman Who Doesn't Quit: 5 Habits from the Book of Ruth by Nicki Koziarz.

OVERVIEW :
Have you ever gotten to the place where you just couldn’t take it anymore? Dreams. Programs. Jobs. Relationships. There are so many different areas where we feel like calling it quits. It’s time for an honest conversation on how not to give in to the temptation to give up. Nicki Koziarz is a woman who has thrown in the towel a time or two. In fact, she’s quit just about everything in her life. But with God’s help, she’s discovered a few habits that have helped her and others conquer the choice to quit. Then there is Ruth. She is much more than   a Bible   story and through her life we uncover five life-giving habits that help us to persevere when things get hard, complicated, and messy. But these habits do more than just motivate, they help us to fight when resistance arises. They teach us to pursue discipline and the desire to determine our daily direction. These habits show how success is not achieved by pursuing temporary desires. The direction of our lives needs to be far less about to-do lists and accomplishments. And instead focus on becoming the people God can count on.

5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit   will enable you to:
  • Evaluate the internal personal struggles that make you want to quit.
  • Cultivate consistent habits to help you progress toward your goals.
  • Receive a fresh dose of perspective from the Bible that will help you develop perseverance.

You are not made to quit! Join Nicki as she identifies five habits to help you keep going no matter what struggles may come your way.

HOW : There is a Bible study version AND a regular paperback version.   The Bible study version will have the questions included. $12.00 at Lifeway.com .   $14 at Amazon.com   $10 at BarnesandNoble.com (this is the paperback book, not the Bible study book-used versions available). A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers that worked our last Chosen 300 meal hosting on Saturday February 24 th. It was a great success and Wayne Church continues to receive accolades from the Chosen 300 staff for our service. We served 140 individuals in need and also provided clothing donations and distributed health kits. It was yet another amazing group effort. Kudos to our cooks, shoppers, worship team, drivers, servers, and people who donated funds and food.  Our next Chosen 300 dinner, on April 28, will be supported by our Confirmation Class as part of their service project. If the team needs additional help, we will send a request to the rest of the congregation closer to the date.   If you are interested in participating in this wonderful ministry please reach out to Kimm Ebersole and Agnes Fischer.
