WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
@ 9:15 AM Worship through Service
@ 10:30 AM (blended traditional, sanctuary)
WORSHIP THROUGH SERVICE IS THIS SUNDAY, JULY 29!
Join us for Worship through Service this Sunday! We will begin at 9:15 AM in Fellowship Hall with prayer and then begin assembly. We will be assembling Flood and Hygiene Kits to be sent to UMCOR’s Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, Louisiana. These kits will then be packaged with other critical relief supplies before being shipped overseas. Relief-supply kits help provide care for the most vulnerable people during times of crisis. UMCOR collects 3 types of kits for global distribution in 80 different countries around the world. These kits help sustain everyday life for people who lack ready access to essential supplies. They provide vital support for UMCOR’s global development work and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:16

NEW SERMON SERIES STARTING SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH!
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DIE?
Most of us agree that the Bible has a lot to say about the afterlife; death and heaven are each mentioned hundreds of times in the scriptures. Why then, do we have so many questions about what happens to us when we die? Is heaven real? Who goes to heaven? Will we be reunited with our loved ones? What about hell, does it exist? Is there a Judgment Day? Invite a friend and join us for four Sundays in August as we seek biblical answers to our questions about death and eternal life.

ATTENTION FOOTBALL FANS!!
The Wayne Men’s Group is excited to announce the first annual Wayne Church Fantasy Football League! We're asking the football fans in our congregation to indicate their interest in participating in the league this season. Once we have an idea of how many players we will have, the group will move forward with setting up the league online.

The NFL regular season begins on September 6, so we are aiming to have a live draft at the church the week before. We are also planning to have an end-of-season tailgate get together to celebrate the season and hand out plenty of awards! For the main prize to the league's champion, we are asking each player to donate $10, and the winner will choose a charity to which to donate the pot.

To let us know that you are interested, please e-mail waynechurchff@gmail.com by TODAY so that we can get a count of how many players we will have. More details will follow as we get in to August.

Thanks,
John Sedunov

PONDERING THE PARABLES BIBLE STUDY CONTINUES AUGUST 2!
REFLECTING ON JESUS’ STORIES ON FAITH

When temps soar and schedules slow, it's a great time to draw closer to the Lord through studying His Word. Please join Virginia Gardiner on  alternating Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 during August  to focus on some of Jesus' foundational parables. Upcoming dates for the study are  August 2, 16, and 30 .  Come to one or as many as you can, and enjoy growing your faith among friends. We'll gather at Virginia's house  (see church directory), and weather permitting, will hang out on the deck, so dress for the garden! Light snacks and drinks will be available for anyone coming straight from work. If you'd like to prepare for the studies in advance, here are the parables we'll be studying each session:

8/2: Widow and Judge (Luke 18:1-8)
Wise and Foolish Bridesmaids (Matthew 25:1-13)
8/16: Pharisee and Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14)
Nobleman and the Pounds (Luke 19:11-26)
8/30: Wheat and Tares (Matthew 13:24-30)
      The Two Foundations (Matthew 7:24-27)

"THE WELL" COMING SOON!!
Our church parlor has always been one of our central gathering spaces and the threshold where many people first encounter Wayne Church’s welcoming ministry.   This area provides opportunities for our members and guests to connect with each other more informally, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, build relationships, or just sit and relax in God’s house.   Led by our Adult Connections Team, and supported by our Trustees and Leadership Council, it has been decided that this space is due for updating.   It will be closed for the rest of the summer while it transitions into “The Well” which will open just after Labor Day. As many of you may know, during Biblical times, the well is where everyone routinely gathered for news, friendship and sharing. We believe a new name and a new look will encourage that kind of relational activity and the connectedness we desire for years to come.   Nearly half of the funds needed to complete this project have already been raised.   If you would like to support this project please make your donation to Wayne UMC and designate “The Well” on your gift.

THE FOOD PANTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP!
VOLUNTEERS  NEEDED!  The Food  Pantry Bread Pick Up team is looking for volunteers to round out the schedule for Panera pick ups.  Duties  include (about once a month) a Tuesday 9pm bread pickup at the Wayne Panera bread  on Lancaster Avenue and making sure it's in the church lobby by 8:45am Wednesday morning for food pantry distribution.  Arrangements can be made for late Tuesday or early Wednesday drop off at the church. Please consider serving this longstanding church  ministry.  Any questions or responses can be directed to Bob King at kingbob44@verizon.net

We are also always looking for volunteers who would be willing to help Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9am – to 1pm. You can even sign-up for a half-shift (9-11am or 11am-1pm)! Duties entail handing out Food Pantry bags and greeting visitors. (You can bring a book, tablet, or laptop to pass the time!) This is a vital ministry! Our volunteers are the face of our church to those who are in need, and your friendly face can go a long way toward making our recipients feel comfortable and welcome!

WANT TO DONATE?  We are always in need of peanut butter, cereal, pasta and sauce.
YOUNGLIVES BABY BOTTLE RESULTS!

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated to this important ministry. We raised $1141.09 to help teen moms in the area!  Amazing!! Great job everyone!

2018 LAITY ACADEMY - AUGUST 3-5 AT QUAKERTOWN UMC
REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO JULY 29!
The 35 th Laity Academy’s theme is ‘Pass It On – Spreading God’s Word Through Action!’ As members of Christ’s Church we all have a role to play – no matter how small or large. Paul says it very directly in Corinthians 12 where he tells us that every part of the body of Christ has a role and that the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body.”
