@ 10:30 AM (blended traditional, sanctuary)
SERMON SERIES CONCLUDES THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 26TH!
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DIE?
Most of us agree that the Bible has a lot to say about the afterlife; death and heaven are each mentioned hundreds of times in the scriptures. Why then, do we have so many questions about what happens to us when we die? Is heaven real? Who goes to heaven? Will we be reunited with our loved ones? What about hell, does it exist? Is there a Judgment Day? Invite a friend and join us as we seek biblical answers to our questions about death and eternal life.

CHOSEN 300 IS TOMORROW!
It's not too late! There are still a few spots open if you want to help support this important ministry!
FOOD PANTRY NEEDS!
Some of our shelves are running low! Donations would be greatly appreciated so we can continue serving our community. We are running low on... cereal, pasta sauce, peanut butter, tuna and rice/pasta side dishes.

Also, we are always looking for volunteers who would be willing to help Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9am – to 1pm. You can even sign-up for a half-shift (9-11am or 11am-1pm)! Duties entail handing out Food Pantry bags and greeting visitors. (You can bring a book, tablet, or laptop to pass the time!) This is a vital ministry! Our volunteers are the face of our church to those who are in need, and your friendly face can go a long way toward making our recipients feel comfortable and welcome!

KICK OFF SUNDAY WITH BREAKFAST IS SEPTEMBER 9TH!
Our kick-off breakfast begins at 9:15AM on the lower level. The Well reveal will be during the 10:30AM worship service! Breakfast is the time for everyone to come back together and enjoy some good food and fellowship! Also, our kids will meet their new teachers and shepherds for the 2018-2019 program year!
PONDERING THE PARABLES BIBLE STUDY CONCLUDES AUGUST 30!
When temperatures soar and schedules slow, it's a great   time to draw closer to the Lord through studying His Word.   Please join Virginia Gardiner for the last study on August 30 from 7-8:30 pm at her home   (see church directory), and weather permitting, we will hang out on the deck, so dress for the garden!   Light snacks and drinks will be available for anyone coming straight from work.   If you'd like to prepare for the study in advance, we will be looking at Wheat and Tares (Matthew 13:24-30) and The Two Foundations (Matthew 7:24-27)
THE WELL WILL BE UNVEILED ON SEPTEMBER 9!
Our church parlor has always been one of our central gathering spaces and where many people first encounter Wayne Church’s welcoming ministry.   This area provides opportunities for our members and guests to connect with each other more informally, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, build relationships, or just sit and relax in God’s house. As many of you may know, during Biblical times, the well is where everyone routinely gathered for news, friendship and sharing. We believe a new name and a new look will encourage that kind of relational activity and the connectedness we desire for years to come.
THE 10 SECOND RULE BOOK STUDY STARTS SEPTEMBER 16!
All are welcome to this study of The 10 Second Rule by Clare De Graaf. Each week a different chapter will be presented and discussed. Books are available in the Narthex and in class.
Pre-reading of chapters is encouraged but not required as each week the leader will review the main points before discussion.
“All over the world, Christians are returning to the simple faith of Jesus by living by the 10-Second Rule. In so doing, you can discover the power of simple obedience as Jesus taught it and the early church lived it.”

Starting on September 16, we will be meeting at 9:15am in the Upper Room. Class leaders will be Lowell Gustafson, Jen Wannenburg, Beth Lindgren, Galen Black, Virginia Gardiner, Brian Ivey and Marge Miller.
UNDERSTANDING BIBLE TIMES CLASS COMING IN SEPTEMBER!
A fun and interactive look at four of the common life activities during the time of Jesus as well as the Bible passages that pertain to these customs.  Some classes will involve a bit of crafting, some a bit of walking - all will be enlightening and fun. Class dates: Sept 16, 23 and 30 and Oct 14 at 9:15am. Locations will vary, look for signs. All are welcome! Class Leaders: Sue Scott, Nancy Brown, Denise Slawter and Virginia Gardiner.
INAUGURAL MEN'S SOFTBALL GAME SEPTEMBER 16!
The Wayne Church Men's Group invites all men, and boys of High School age, with all softball playing abilities to participate in the inaugural Wayne Church Men's Group softball game on Sunday September 16. We will gather at the Radnor High School Loop Softball field located near the high school tennis courts at 3:00pm. Equipment will be provided if you don't have any. Please feel free to bring non-church members to participate as well.
LUNCH & LEARN IS STARTING BACK UP SEPTEMBER 20!

LADIES FALL RETREAT OCTOBER 20-21! SIGN UP NOW!
All ladies are invited to this year’s fall retreat at the Mariawald Retreat Center. We will be leaving Saturday, October 20 at 7:30am and returning Sunday, October 21 around 4pm. We will be reading and studying the classic The Will of God by Leslie Weatherhead. Sign up sheet and books are in Narthex!

From Liz Howley to all Ladies of Wayne Church,

The Women's Retreat is coming... and you are invited. Last year, I decided to ignore the many reasons I couldn't go - the kids need me, too many chores to do, too busy with work - and signed up. Making that decision to go was a blessing in many ways. I found there was something very special about being on a retreat with a group of women. It was an opportunity to listen, share and escape the busyness of my life. Sitting quietly in nature enriched my understanding of Christ; and my faith. I developed long-lasting bonds with the other women on the retreat.

The retreat team did a beautiful job of mixing small and large group discussion with free-time to read or explore the lovely grounds. There were also plenty of laughs, hugs, and most amazing, a true sense of calm. I left with new friends, a refreshed outlook and a deeper faith.

If you are thinking about attending, I encourage you to do so. Think of it as a re-TREAT. You deserve it!

AUGUST LEADERSHIP MOMENT!
We have all heard the statistic that 9 out of 10 churches are either declining or growing so slowly that they are either not keeping up with the growth of or the changing demographic dynamic of their communities. To address this, the Leadership team has been using a tool to measure their effectiveness titled “Eight Common Characteristics of Successful Church Revitalizations”.
FALL RUMMAGE SALE SEPTEMBER 14 & 15!
SALE HOURS: Friday, 8:30am – 1 pm, Saturday, 9am – 12 noon
We begin accepting donations on Sunday, September 9 after 11:30am
August is a great time to clean out those closets and send your no-longer-needed treasures to Rummage!   Our September sales are highly anticipated and heavily attended, so please look around your attic and closets and find those items that you no longer use, but others will. This is the best sale of the year to donate your HALLOWEEN and other fall decoratives and clothing, so please don’t hold these until after autumn.   We always appreciate better-quality name brand and ‘vintage’ items, and all nice decoratives, smaller occasional furniture, rugs, baby/child/adult seasonal clothing, DVD’s and CD’s - things you’d like to buy or be given yourself!   We cannot accept TV/computer monitors, text books, encyclopedias or anything stained or broken.    We can only sell newer and nice books, especially best sellers or good-condition children’s books, so please send us only your best books.   AND THEN COME SHOP!! Volunteers for set-up, sales and pack-up are also always needed. To volunteer or get more information, please contact Virginia Gardiner ( gardiner.family@outlook.com ).   THANK YOU!!
