Join the WEP Residential Learning Community!

WEP provides first-year engineering women with a residential community near the engineering complex. Located in Kinsolving South, this learning community will allow you to form study groups and develop a social network with others who have common interests.

Remember to apply for HOUSING as soon as possible. Housing contracts are awarded based on the date of your housing application; the sooner you apply for housing, the more likely you are to get a contract. Go to "My Status" to submit your housing application.

Connect with Peers for Support:

First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs)

A First-Year Interest Group (FIG) is a small group of first-year students who share 1-2 classes together and participate in a weekly seminar with a mentor and a WEP staff member. A free lunch or snacks will be offered at each of the seminars.

The WEP FIGs showcase academic resources and provide an opportunity to make friends and form study groups!

You can join a one of the five WEP FIGs during summer orientation.  You will hear from us in May about our WEP info sessions offered at orientation.

Special Programs Just for You:

First-Year Initiative (FYI)

The WEP First-Initiative (FYI) provides academic and peer support by connecting students to the engineering community. All first-year engineering women are matched with a Peer Assistance Leader (PALs), undergraduate mentors in your major who can help answer questions about being an engineering student at UT. Students are matched when classes start in the fall, and you will have the opportunity to meet your mentor during our fall kickoff dinner - FYIsland.

In addition, FYI provides additional workshops about academic and engineering resources, including how to apply for engineering scholarships, study abroad programs, and much more.
