Ms. Wendy Farrar, Service Manager for Mall Of Georgia Jim Ellis Buick and GMC, visited Sims Academy Automotive Classes on September 16 to talk about conducting a job search, interview skills, and performance expectations after hiring. While visiting the automotive lab located at Lanier Technical College, Ms. Ferrar talked with associates about hiring needs in the immediate future, employer expectations after hiring, and advancement opportunities with their company. Sims associates learned how to write a winning resume and what to expect during the hiring process. She also conducted interviews with students offering feedback to help them become more competitive in the interview process.
Ms. Farrar stated that the students resumes were outstanding, professionally written, and well presented. Three students are having follow-up interviews the week of fall break. After the presentation and mock interview, Sims associate Fidel said,
"I knew I had to dress for success, have a good resume, and impress my future employer. I had one chance to do it, and it went better than I thought it would."
