Message from Assistant Principal Benzie

We had an exciting, fun, sun-filled three days down in Cape Cod.  What a memorable trip for our Rachel Carson clusters! Students had a rewarding experience, as each student was able to come away with a favorite event. Whether it was visiting Woods Hole, jumping the sand dunes, golfing, watching a movie, going on a boat ride, visiting lighthouses, or checking out the tidal flats; all had a great time, especially with the wonderful weather!

We want to thank the teachers and students for making this such a fun time for everyone! We look forward to celebrating the Cape Cod trip with parents on Tuesday, June 12th at 7:00 pm.

Warm regards,
George
8th Grade, Rena Finder Visit
Friday, June 8, 9:30 - 10:30
WMS Theater

This Friday, June 8th, the eighth grade is honored to be hosting Rena Finder. Ms. Finder was born in Krakow, Poland in 1929. She survived the Krakow ghetto, the Plaszow concentration camp and four weeks at Auschwitz.  She was saved through the actions of Oscar Schindler. For over thirty years, Ms. Finder has been speaking to our eighth graders about her childhood, her journey through the Holocaust and the importance of being upstanders. In 2011, she became our school's first honorary alumna.

Eighth grade parents are welcome to attend this event. Please contact social studies curriculum leader Jake Montwieler [ Jacob_Montwieler@wayland.k12.ma.us ] for more information.
Reminder - After School Activities

Recently, there has been an increase in the number of students remaining in the building after school hours unsupervised. As a reminder, students who stay after school must be participating in a staff supervised activity or meeting with a teacher. Please understand that this is a safety issue, and staff will be calling parents of students who continue to stay after hours unsupervised.

TODAY, June 4, 9:00 - 10:15 AM

All parents want their children to become resilient and confident. But increasingly they find it hard to let their children learn the vital life lessons that come from facing challenge and disappointment. How can parents strike a good balance between helping and protecting their children and letting them grapple with real-life issues? This program will offer concrete suggestions for managing this key dilemma.
