W/NP Wisconsin warehouse packing day - Thursday, June 18
Come join in 3rd Thursday of each month  at the  W/NP Wisconsin Warehouse  - we'll start about 9 am and continue until done, usually early afternoon.  Let us know if you would like to help with lunch or a snack wnp@uwsp.edu

A LOT of items to sort through, inventory and pack.  All ages are welcome!
As the school year in Wisconsin comes to a close, area teachers and students took the extra step to collect either new or still in good condition items that will help fill backpacks for kids (and teachers) in Nicaragua! We are grateful for Dino, Sarah and Kaylee who have taken the  Backpack Project to a new level!
(Dino made many trips transporting first the empty bins, then the full bins and van loads to Sarah's house to sort!!!)

W/NP responds to needs as we are able, example, ...a visit of a young man to our office asking for any kind of help since the heavy rain in Managua flooded their house leaving them without some of their belongings, especially beds. The family had six members. There happened to be two box springs in the warehouse, an inflatable bed, set of sheets and a backpack for a 10 year old boy.  (the two boys have not gone to school because their school supplies were swept away by the rain.) Like them, there are hundreds of families that are also in the same situation, we do what we can and everyone pitching in where they can makes life a little better for someone.

Kaylee welcomes other volunteers to join in the sorting process!  2 1/2 years ago she and her mom Sarah were going to fill 10 backpacks, today they are nearing the 1,000 mark for number of backpacks filled!  Simply AMAZING!!!
Learning Center Activities
T he Learning Center (LC)  Program offers classes such as Sewing Machine Repair at the Managua Office for students and LC Coordinators.  Most of the LC's offer some type of sewing which makes it important for the centers to be able to maintain and repair their sewing machines.

Girl Scouts Gold Award
The prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Recipients are girls who take action, develop and follow a plan that ultimately makes the world a better place. Such is the case for Elena, Girl Scout from San Diego CA, who contacted W/NP about including the Lending Library project as part of her Gold Award program. She more than reached her goals and is very deserving of receiving the Girl Scout Gold Award. Congratulations Elena!!
