WORD for the Week for April 15, 2018
Third Sunday of Easter

Miracle Sunday is this Sunday!
Miracle Sunday is this Sunday!

Come and Worship!

WORD for Sabbath Beginnings | 8am Border Chapel

Worship Leader:  Rev. Dwight Haberman

Holy Communion: Most Christians throughout history and also today have never heard of the rapture. With good reason. The word and the notion it embodies a modern innovation, going back less than two centuries. Nobody has thought of it until the 1880's...Apart from rapture theology, will there be a second coming of Jesus?

Passages in the New Testament refer to Jesus coming again and affirmed in creeds commonly recited in Christian worship...To affirm that Jesus will come again to complete what he began is to make a commitment to his vision of the future, the dream of God. The affirmation of the second coming has more than literal meanings. It is the return of Jesus already experienced in the risen Christ and the Spirit of Christ. It is Jesus coming again in the worship of the church- about the coming of Jesus who is already here. Jesus also comes again in the Eucharist: in the bread and wine Christ becomes present to us. What is meant by the second coming of Christ is the ultimate Christian hope. ~Marcus Borg

WORD for Sacred Journey | 8:30am Art Gallery

Reflection: "How do you think Jesus will come again?"

WORD for Traditional Worship | 10am Sanctuary

Scripture Text: Matthew 14:13-21 (NRSV)

Preaching: Rev. Judy Zabel

Reflection: Miracle Sunday! Do you believe in miracles? There are some problems in the world that just seem insurmountable. What can we do? God doesn't expect us to solve all the world's problems. God does invite us to offer who we are and what we have so God can do far more than we can ask or imagine. Sunday is Miracle Sunday. Please fill out your 2nd Mile Miracle pledge card so we can be a part of God's miracle as we tackle this tuck-pointing and restoration work together.

Also, we will announce the miracle of March Food Share Month. I'll announce the total amount of food donated to Groveland Food Shelf from both Hennepin and Blaisdell YMCA. Come find out how much we collected. It's a miracle! Right here at Hennepin!

For the Children: I know many of you have heard the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 while in Hennepin Kids for LYFE. I love the miracles of that story: the disciples learned to trust Jesus, the people shared, all were fed, all were full and there was so much left over! What a way to live! Sometimes, we live this way and sometimes we make other choices. When have you chosen to trust Jesus? Who do you share with? What do you do with leftovers? How can you share them? Could be a fun thing to talk with your parents and guardians about this week.
