Young workers practiced safe work this past summer
This past summer we gave young workers in Ontario a chance to showcase their health and safety knowledge in our first-ever social media campaign! We called on young workers to submit pictures on Twitter which demonstrated their safe work practices using the hashtag #PracticeSafeWork for a chance to win cash prizes. Congratulations to all  of our winners! Overall, we had  94 contest entries, and our campaign saw a 5.91% engagement rate - a feat in the Twitter world! Thanks to everyone who supported our campaign and let's continue to #PracticeSafeWork all year round!
Report your premium amount
Did you know? A number of banks and credit unions across Ontario have made changes to the way they process premium payments. In the past, employers have been able to take their Premium Remittance Form into financial institutions to report and pay their premium amounts at the same time. However, some financial institutions recently decided that they will no longer accept Premium Remittance Forms (although most will still accept payment for premiums). To ensure that your account remains in good standing, it is important to report your premium amount to us when you make your payment. Click here  to learn about the different ways that you can report your premium. Reporting online is the fastest and easiest way to calculate and report your premiums, and our eWSIB Customer Liaison Specialists are happy to deliver an online or in person session to walk you through the process. Just email [email protected]  for more information!
Now online: Q2 2015 reports
We've posted our second quarter financial reports - a Stakeholder Report , a Sufficiency Report and a  Measuring Results Report . And they tell a great story: permanent impairments have fallen from 13 percent of claims in 2009 to below six percent today. As well, 80 percent of injured workers who complete a work transition plan find employment. That's up from just 36 percent in 2009. We also continue to have strong financial performance. In fact, our sufficiency ratio increased to its highest level since 1980, rising by 4.7 per cent since Q4 2014 to 75.6 per cent. Even with these successes, we're committed to doing more to ensure that every injured worker is supported financially and in making a safe, quick recovery. October: Healthy Workplace Month
3-red-apples.jpg
Of course there is Thanksgiving and Halloween, but did you know that October is also  Canada's Healthy Workplace Month (CHWM)? The month is dedicated to: 1) increasing awareness of the need for a comprehensive approach to workplace health in Canada (healthy lifestyles + workplace culture and mental health + physical environment + corporate social responsibility); 2) providing healthy workplace resources; and 3) increasing the number of healthy workplaces in Canada. We're a proud sponsor of the  CHWM website, a year round resource that encourages workplaces to promote healthy workplace practices. We encourage you to check out the CHWM resources  and  healthy activity ideas  and renew your effort towards workplace health!

Rate Framework: Next steps
October 2, 2015 marked the formal end of the current phase of our Rate Framework Modernization consultations. The consultations began in March 2015 and included the release of a variety of consultation materials to support participation in the process , technical sessions, working group sessions, and invitation of written submissions. Later this fall, we will continue our discussions with a "What We've Heard/What We're Thinking" session with stakeholders/participants and share our understanding of the feedback received and how the proposed Rate Framework is evolving. All of our stakeholder submissions will be posted on www.wsibrateframeworkreform.com  and the timing and details of the next steps, including further stakeholder engagement, will be confirmed and posted here

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

To injured workers, we're the agency that provides wage-loss benefits, health care coverage, and return to work and transition programs. To employers, we're the agency that provides no-fault collective liability insurance and access to industry-specific health and safety information. But to our employees, we're simply the agency that believes in getting injured workers across Ontario back to what matters.
