WSU receives NSF grant to assist students with technology-based inventions

WSU Ventures at Wichita State University has received a $300,000 award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to assist students in furthering technology-based innovation development. The grant will establish Shocker Innovation Corps, a program that will nurture and support entrepreneurial teams interested in accelerating research outcomes and product commercialization.  Read more...

The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research Small Business Innovation Research program seeks products and services that benefit the lives of people with disabilities for up to $75,000 in funding.  Read more...
Students encouraged to apply for Department of Transportation innovation award
The Secretary of Transportation, through the FAA is announcing the fourth-annual competition to recognize students with the ability to demonstrate unique, innovative thinking in aerospace science and engineering. The Dept. of Transportation intends to use the competition to incentivize students at high schools and universities to think creatively in developing innovative solutions to aviation and aerospace issues, and to share those innovations with the broader community.  More information...
WSU students open prototyping business

A group of enterprising Wichita State University students have started a new business helping small engineering firms save time and money on research and development. ProtoBench uses 3-D printing, CAD modeling and various forms of casting to create complete product prototypes, such as wearables, product housings and replacement components. Read more...

WSU's Ennovar Institute gains new partner focused on big data storage solution


 The Ennovar Institute at Wichita State University has a new partner that will allow students to gain unparalleled experience working with big data storage solutions. Re-Store is a California-based IBM premier partner focused on infrastructure engineering. The firm started working with Ennovar last fall on a project that involves Spectrum Scale, an IBM software-defined storage supercomputing tool.

New Law Enforcement Training Center would train next generation of officers


A proposal to build a new Law Enforcement TRaining Center on WSU's Innovation Campus would mean a big boost to students in WSU's Criminal Justice program. The building, a partnership with the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County, would provide trining space and classrooms for the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, Wichita Police Department, and the WSU Criminal Justice program.
