THE GATEWAY TO EXTRAORDINARY POSSIBILITIES
Washington USD Launches All New
Principal for a Day Program
The Washington Unified School District (WUSD) today hosted a new district-wide initiative called Principal for a Day. This program is designed to give West Sacramento community and regional business leaders a personal glimpse into the education world by serving alongside a school principal for a morning.

“Principal for a Day is a special opportunity for our community to directly engage with our students and schools,” said Linda C. Luna, WUSD Superintendent. “The partnerships we build through programs like this truly serve our students best by providing them options and reinforcing the supports we have in place for developing the 21st century skills and knowledge they need to be successful in a competitive world.”

Participating in the Principal for a Day program provides community leadership valuable insight into the role of a school principal and builds lasting relationships that bring the community even closer together.  These strong partnerships present greater opportunities of success for all our students, ensuring they are on a path toward college and career readiness.

As a participant in the Principal for a Day program, guests were assigned to each WUSD school where they shadow a principal for an entire morning of a regularly scheduled school day. Principal duties began at 9:30 a.m. and activities concluded with a lunch prepared and served by students in the WUSD Culinary Arts Program at the Bryte College & Career Training campus.
