John W. Clark Exhibit
A Twenty Year Fascination with Aerospace Art

Exhibit: February 12th - March 27th

Over 93 works of art are on display by John W. Clark a resident of Surprise, Arizona and retired Air Force aircraft mechanic. This exhibit displays Mr. Clark's love and passion for planes, space aircraft, and the astronomical universe. Clark creates a work of art that is a direct influence of Realism. Clark's work provides a sense of unison and variety displaying components of earth and space.

This exhibit is registered with the Arizona SciTech Festival.

Friday, March 6th | 6-8pm 
Enjoy an evening with world-class storytellers! Listen to their stories of Irish origin as well as a blend of folktales from various cultures. Several tellers will   include a personal tale that relates to the theme of "other worldly" myths and folktales. This presentation is best for adults and mature teens aged 13 and older.
 
Refreshments, fun people and amazing art! First Fridays will have something for everyone! This event is sponsored by the City of Surprise and is FREE to attend.

Exhibit: April 9 - May 15 
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 16th | 5-7pm 
The exhibit will feature floral and botanical artwork in a variety of styles and techniques. Artists are invited to submit original botanical art, including flowers, herbs, leaves, and plants, etc.

The concert will take place in the Marley Park community, 13243 N. Founders Park Blvd., Surprise, AZ at the Heritage Pool House. Admission is FREE and open to the public so grab a lawn chair and join us for a night of music under the stars. Beer, Wine and concessions will be for sale.

22nd Annual Diamond Ball
 
Saturday, March 7th | 6pm | Wigwam Resort
The Diamond Ball, the largest arts fund-raising event in the West Valley, began in 1994 and is attended by many corporate, community, and philanthropic leaders committed to enhancing cultural life in the region. The gala not only helps support the West Valley Arts Council's many programs and initiatives, but a portion of the funds raised is awarded to local arts groups, arts projects, and nonprofits in the West Valley. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $2 million dollars for the arts.

Gallery 37

Accepting Applications 

The West Valley Arts Council is accepting applications for the award winning arts employment program, Gallery 37. West Valley artists ages 15-18 are encouraged to apply.

Gallery 37 pairs art apprentices ages 15 to 18 years old with professional artists to design, develop and install permanent pieces of public art for display in the West Valley. This program is led by an expert team of master artists who provide the necessary training and support in each phase of the project. Since 2001, more than 100 valley students have participated in Gallery 37.

Peoria Public Library is hosting an exhibition entitled "The Adventures of the Calico Queen and the One-Eyed Silver Devil", a show of oil paintings by George Palovich, West Valley artist and Interim Curator at the West Valley Art Museum. The theme of the exhibit revolves around two cats belonging to the Palovich's daughter and their stay in Arizona for a year and a half while their daughter traveled.
