Coming up:
Starting in Jan: New Book Club for kids (ages 9-13) and their families!

Thurs, Dec 8 at 7 pm - OFFSITE at Arlington Central Library: Washington Post journalist Robert O'Harrow, Jr. speaks about his new book, THE QUARTERMASTER: Montgomery C. Meigs, Lincoln's General, Master Builder of the Union Army. Get to know this major military figure that Lincoln, his Cabinet and Generals called "the key to victory" and learn how he fed, clothed, and armed the Union Army using his ingenuity and devotion. As a young man, Meigs designed the Washington aqueducts in a city where people were dying from contaminated water. He built the spectacular wings and the massive dome of the brand new US Capitol.  "The lively story of the Civil War's most unlikely and most uncelebrated genius." Wall Street Journal

Fri, Dec 9 at 7 pm: Join us as Jeff Cioletti (THE YEAR OF DRINKING ADVENTUROUSLY), editor-at-large of Beverage World magazine and founder of The Drinkable Globe, shares from his new book BEER FAQ: All That's Left to Know About the World's Most Celebrated Adult Beverage. Beer - drinking and making it -- has never been so popular, and in Beer FAQ, Jeff Cioletti tells the story of how it got that way. This no-nonsense guide to the world of beer answers  questions about the diverse array of styles, ingredients, and int'l brewing and drinking traditions that drive the world's most popular adult beverage. Cioletti offers a touch of history, a bit of globetrotting, and a better understanding of not just the many varieties of beers out there, but also the best places to drink them and the best ways to enjoy them.

Mon, Dec 12 at 7 pm: All are welcome to join Melody and Non-Fiction Book Group for a discussion of My Age of Anxiety: Fear, Hope, Dread, and the Search for Peace of Mind by Scott Stossel.

YAY!!  On Jan 8, we are launching our Book Worms Book Club for children ages 9-13 and their parents. This expansion of our Mother-Daughter book club includes boys and Dads, as well as grandparents or other adult family members who would like to read and share in a discussion about books with a child in their family.

Our first book is MANIAC MAGEE by Jerry Spinelli. The club meets the second Sunday of every month at 3:00 pm at One More Page Books and will be led by Caroline Tipton. We've had many requests to restart the book club and we really appreciate Caroline volunteering to take over the reins!
