Walk, Don't Run! 3/15/17
Walk Don't Run! 3/15/17

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

31  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and
they shall walk, and not faint.

WAIT-a primitive root; to bind together (perhaps by twisting ), i.e. collect ; (figurtaive) to expect :- gather (together), look, patiently, tarry, wait (for, on, upon).
Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.

Oftentimes-too often- in OUR walk with Jesus,WE have a tendency to "run ahead" of God!!!

As I sat to begin writing this message, the OLD, OLD song by The Ventures popped in my head:

WALK DON'T RUN!

In fact, I can recall no instance where our Lord and Savior ever ran!

Time and again, WE re instructed to WALK:

Psalm 23:4 (KJV)

4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art
with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Isaiah 30:21 (KJV)

21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is
the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

Jesus, Himself, WALKED every place He went:

Luke 13:33 (KJV)

33  Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
The ONLY recorded other mode of transportation for our Savior was a donkey:

John 12:14 (KJV)

14
And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

Again, I must declare:

"CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A HUNDRED YARD DASH, BUT A LONG DISTANCE/ENDURANCE RACE!"

ONE DAY AT TIME, SWEET JESUS-ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!

Even the Apostle Paul, while encouraging us to "RUN," tempered his admonition to "run with PATIENCE and TEMPERANCE!"

Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)

1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (KJV)

24
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25  And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

TEMPERATE-middle from <G1468> (egkrates); to exercise self-restraint (in diet and chastity) :- can ([-not]) contain, be temperate.
Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.

So, BELOVED, slow down-

" ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN ONE DAY!!"

WHEN we "run ahead" of God, WE too often make the mistake of DOING IT OURSELVES!

1 Samuel 13:8 (KJV)

8  And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

The Prophet Samuel PURPOSELY delayed his appearance to test King Saul's PARIENCE!

The King WRONGLY took upon himself the role of being God's Anointed Messenger:

1 Samuel 13:9 (KJV)

9
And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.

King Saul was NOT authorized and/or instructed by God to do this and the price he paid was his kingship:

1 Samuel 13:13-14 (KJV)

13  And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD
have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.

14  But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

Today, may WE not do "foolishly" and WALK, NOT RUN!!!

May our God grant you HINDS FEET so that YOU can WALK the "HIGH PLACES!!!"

Habakkuk 3:19 (KJV)

19  The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

GOD BLESS YOU!
