Washington USD Community Update
Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,

The Washington Unified School District (WUSD) and Washington Teachers Association (WTA) met on August 30, 2016. Both parties worked for eleven (11) hours with a mediation panel comprised of a state appointed fact finder, a mediator for WTA and a mediator for WUSD. During the process a lot of progress was made, but there is still more work to do. WUSD and WTA are scheduled to meet again on September 26, 2016 with the mediation panel and will be receiving the state appointed fact finder’s drafted report.

Both parties are still unable to discuss what happened in Fact Finding. We, too, believe that we are fairly close to an agreement. We will continue to keep you apprised of changes and updates involving our contract negations process. If you would like to seek additional information, please visit our WUSD Negotiations Updates webpage or call our Human Resources Department at (916) 375-7600, ext. 1046.

We know an agreement is very near, and we must continue the hard work and focus on our students’ education. The District and teachers do not support any movement of keeping students out of school; it will only lead to students falling behind in their studies and receiving an unexcused absence. Our students need our support in focusing on their studies and being in school with their teachers.

Thank you for your continued support to all our schools and staff.
