Message from Tim
Greetings,

This past month the Brighton Boulevard Reconstruction project celebrated its one-year groundbreaking anniversary. To help mark this occasion we created the River North Orange Pages, a coupon booklet representing 30 businesses in the RiNo area. It is our small way to thank the businesses for their support and patience as the project is in construction

Throughout the Neighborhood Planning Process, the community's comments focused largely on safety concerns for walking and biking along streets lacking sidewalks, bus stops, and bridges. Mayor Hancock and the NDCC continue to address these challenges to reconnect the GES and RiNo communities that have long be separated.

Our efforts include the opening of the 35th-36th bike and pedestrian bridge that provides a safe connection between River North, the Cole, and Curtis Park neighborhoods.  In the next few weeks we will start construction of bus stops along 48th Avenue between York Street and Claude Court, and the north side of 52nd Avenue between Steele and Adams streets in Elyria-Swansea.  Moreover, several miles of street and sidewalk construction are anticipated as part of the 2017 GO Bonds.

Additionally, an exciting new project is on the horizon with the 47th & York Bike and Pedestrian Bridge. Wilson & Company are the contractors for this project.  They and the NDCC will be reaching out to Elyria and Swansea businesses and residents as we start work on the bridge's design and environmental process.

Wilson & Company and the NDCC had a blast participating in the Swansea Elementary Off the Street Trick or Treat event. It was great to see the enthusiasm from kids and parents as they looked over the bridge's 3D model! The model will be displayed at different locations throughout Elyria and Swansea in the coming months. We hope you are as excited as us about the future bridge.

We wish you an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.

Best,
Tim Sandos
