30,000 lbs Enginator Installed

A LGH customer was faced with the task of installing a 30,000 Waukesha APG-1000 Enginator. Some of the difficulties they had to overcome in order to install the Enginator were no crane access, a distressed old pump building and a complex generator mounting system. The installation team had to evaluate the structural integrity of the existing building and also had to design a rigging plan to mitigate any point loading of the old 6" elevated slab. In order to do so, LGH's customer rented two 10 ton Gantries, four 5 ton Hand Chain Hoists, two 3 ton Come-a-longs, four 6 ton Beam Trolleys and four 75 ton Machine Skates. Along with using 80 feet of interlocking 1" plated channel, the installation was safely and successfully completed.

Sling Tension
Calculating Sling Tension
When calculating sling tension for your rigging needs, it is important to use the following formulas:

LOAD ON SLINGS (S1 + S2)

Tension 1 = Load x D2 x S1/(H(D1 + D2))

Tension 2 = Load x D1 x S2/(H(D1 + D2))

NOTE: Horizontal sling angles of less than 30 degrees are not recommended. Refer to ANSI B30.9 for complete information.
