Meet Our Summer Corporate Sustainability Intern

Morgan Campbell joined the Pacific Institute in June. She says she is excited to work on advancing sustainable landscapes in California's Santa Ana Watershed and to help develop metrics for the California Water Action Collaborative. She will also help calculate the benefits of context-based water targets for corporations.

Oilfield Water for Irrigation

On June 28, Senior Research Associate Laura Feinstein presented to the Central Valley Water Board on oilfield produced water for crop irrigation in California, as part of a newly-launched collaboration between Duke University, RTI International, Cal-State University Bakersfield, and the Pacific Institute. The collaboration seeks to advance evidence-based decision-making and policy development in the use of oilfield produced water for irrigation, and to strengthen stakeholder knowledge and engagement with the practice.
The Salton Sea and Southern California's Water Future 
Past Outreach 
 
On June 28, Senior Research Associate Michael Cohen participated in the "The Salton Sea and Southern California's Water Future" panel at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California headquarters in Los Angeles. He described the importance and urgency of addressing the mounting problems at the Salton Sea in the context of water supply reliability for the 19 million people in Southern California who depend on Colorado River water, and the failure to date of the state of California to demonstrate the urgency required.
