The month of March is all about water, one of the most critical resources around the world. March 22nd marks UN World Water Day, a day  to celebrate water and make a difference for those who suffer from water related issues.  Engage students in water issues this month with water lessons and celebrate with local events or a trip to your favorite shoreline at a nearby state park

Want to do more? The Sustainable Schools team is offering our Green Classroom workshops all month long - challenge students to find connections to water with our waste prevention or energy efficiency and climate change workshop. Check your grade-level NGSS recommendations , see what availability we have, and register today to secure your spot! 

D on't forget -  Earth Day is coming up on Friday, April 22nd! Plan and register your workshop today to guarantee you make it into our schedule.

Join the City of Bellingham in celebrating World Water Day with the 8th annual Walk for Water event. Walk a 2.3 mile loop between the Fairhaven Village Green and Boulevard Park. Along the path, a mixture of posters created by students  in our  Green Classroom Certification program  and signs with water facts will be showcased. At the halfway point, take a hydration break and participate in the blind Whatcom water taste test. After the event, information on new and exciting projects around the City will be available. First  100 participants will receive a free stainless steel water bottle.  Read more.

What better way to celebrate water than to visit the beautiful, pristine state parks that showcase the streams, rivers, lakes, and bays we have here in the Pacific Northwest? On March 19th, join the State Parks in celebrating its 103rd birthday, and the following weekend, celebrate Saturday Spring Day. On both days, Discover Passes will not be required to park at and enjoy the parks.  Find your park.

Join the Bellingham team, Deliberate Surge, and others around the world to support clean water to those in Africa. 6k (3.72 miles) is the average distance people in Africa must walk for water. Y our registration fee provides lasting clean water to one child in Africa and on race day you walk or run with that unique child's picture on your race bib. Read more.

World Water Day is an opportunity for people around the world to learn, share, and support all aspects of our most critical resource, water. This year's theme, water and jobs, brings attention to the power of water to transform people's lives. Almost half of the world's workers work in water related sectors and nearly all jobs depend on water and those that ensure its safe delivery.
