Get in the Game 2017 exceeded expectations! Thanks to the 800 of you who participated in this week's luncheon, whether you attended or partnered digitally.
 
Because of your support with sponsorships, through the auctions, buying flowers and purchasing signed footballs by Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly and Drew Pearson, more than $650,000 was contributed to support the 77 women and 105 kids right now at The Gatehouse, as well as the 25+ families joining our community in the next few months. 
 
There's more good news! Because the event was underwritten by the Dallas Cowboys and Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation, as well as our 2017 Get in the Game team who worked diligently to secure enormous in-kind support, 98 percent of funds raised will go straight to Gatehouse families.

Legacy Workshop: Turn Conflict into Cooperation

   Based on her own experience as a strong-willed person and hundreds of interviews with people of all ages, Cynthia Tobias shares valuable insights into how the hearts and minds of even the strongest-willed person can be turned from angry conflict to voluntary cooperation. 
   Whether you are struggling with a strong-willed child, spouse, boss or co-worker, you'll walk away with new hope and enthusiasm for bringing out the best in both of you during the next Legacy Workshop,   9am Thursday, Nov. 2 in The Gatehouse  Event Center .  Tickets are $25, but don't let money keep you from attending. Lisa & Matt Rose joined with Patty & Keary Turner and Delisa & Jackie Read to create a new ownership structure so now 50 percent of the store's profits will go directly to The Gatehouse.
   Shoppers will receive the same level of personalized service, have triple the inventory of beautiful and unique jewelry to choose from, and, best of all, will know they are making a practical and lasting difference in the lives of their neighbors who need a hand up for permanent change.

Next Steps & Idea Starters
  1. Help raise funds for the on-campus  childcare academy so our kids experience early learning and start kindergarten on the same level as their peers.  Read more  -- we're at 70% funding and need your help.
     
  2. Host a party or event where you do something you love to  raise funds for an aspect of the childcare academy: naming a room, purchasing toys, furniture, appliances, etc.
     
  3. The Tarrant County taxpayer spends $55,000 per year to support a family with all possible government services. At The Gatehouse, our cost thus far has been
    $35,000 per family. Consider Adopt a Family, learn more  -- a great project for individuals, families, groups or your office.
     
  4. Sponsor an apartment for $2,800, which includes everything from spatulas to shower curtains. Donate here.
     
  5.   Register to be a  volunteer -- orientations take place in person or virtually. Bring your groups so we can form a relationship and help meet your philanthropy goals. A volunteer experience can be tailored for what your group loves to do.

Our motto when we shop:  One for us, and one for a Gatehouse family!  When doing your own shopping, just add another item or more to your cart for Gatehouse families. We always need:
  • Staple supplies for the General Store (laundry detergent, trash bags)
  • New large &  plus-size clothes:  top/dresses in sizes large, XL, XXL and 4XL; pant sizes 12-26
  • Gift cards in $25 & $50 denominations to Wal-Mart, Target, Kohl's & Marshall's
  • Apartment  accessories (table & floor lamps, wall hangings)
  • Legal aid,  family lawyers to donate services
