The TALK (Talking to Adults, Listening to Kids): Realistic Strategies for Promoting the Sexual Safety of Young Children
The Wayland Children and Parents Association is hosting a program for parents of preschoolers through elementary age that will discuss realistic strategies aimed at preventing the sexual abuse of children  at First Parish Church, 50 Cochituate Rd. Wayland. Doors open at 7pm with light refreshments. In this workshop, Dr. Nora Shine draws upon her experience as a child and family psychologist, her knowledge of evidence-based sexual abuse prevention strategies, as well as her experience as a parent of two children. The result is a set of research-driven, realistic strategies that parents and educators can use to prevent the sexual exploitation of children. Dr. Nora Shine is a licensed child psychologist with over 20 years of clinical experience in hospital, outpatient, residential and school settings. Consistently excellent reviews note that the workshop reduces the anxiety associated with this topic, and participants can feel open to learning the new information and strategies that work. The program focuses on changing how you think about keeping kids safe to leave you feeling informed and ready to use the strategies.

The program is open to the public; free for WCPA members and $5 for non-members. We hope you will join us for this important and informative talk. RSVPs to enrichment@waylandwcpa.org are appreciated, but not required for admittance.

Wings for Autism ~ Free Event
Saturday, April 9
Logan Airport, Terminal E

Registration is required. Please register HERE.

Travel is stressful in general but can be particularly difficult for families who have a child with special needs. Wings for Autism events are a "test run" through the airport boarding process--specifically designed for families who have a child with an autism spectrum disorder.   Families are able to practice:
  • the ticketing process
  • going through security
  • waiting in the terminal
  • boarding the airplane
Children and their families gain real life, air travel experience--sometimes finding that more practice is necessary but often discovering that air travel is indeed possible!    Check-in and boarding times begin at 9 am and will be held throughout the morning. Specific times will be assigned closer to the date of the event. Questions? Please contact wingsforautism@charlesrivercenter.org.
