Sp ringtime at the markets is one of our favorite times of year. Not only are the trees blooming, but the stands are "blooming" too. Fresh spring asparagus, onions, baby lettuce, tomatoes, and sweet Persian cucumbers are leading the way into berry season. Strawberries will be making an appearance within the next two weeks... you might even see some early ones this weekend!

Spring is also the time to plant your own gardens and flowers. If you need help in choosing the plants that will work in your garden, just ask Master's Touch (Bethesda), Westmoreland Produce (Bethesda and Mosaic) or Pleitez Produce (Mosaic). They are all expert growers, can answer all your questions, and the plants you take home will yield a great crop of vegetables and flowers.

Check out Two Acre Farm (Bethesda) who is now carrying a line of dried beans. Dried beans are extremely hard to grow and up until recently there has been only one large grower in the US on the west coast. In our search for the best locally and regionally grown products we found  Baer's Best - top quality, hand picked heirloom beans grown in central Maine. Their farm produces around 20 varieties of heirloom and speciality beans and we know that you will love them.

See you at the markets!

Sincerely,

Mitch, Debbie, Jessica, Lynn, Jill, Andrew, Mary and PR
