The Sisters of Mercy Urge Congress to Pass a Clean Dream Act

The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas join with immigrant advocates across the country in calling for the passage of a clean Dream Act ( S. 1615/ H.R. 3440) - NOW. We were shocked and saddened by the Trump administration’s decision to cancel the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program put in place by President Obama in 2012. This program is rooted in the realization that young people, regardless of the circumstances of their birth, represent our hopes and dreams for the future. We have a moral obligation as a society to nurture those dreams, to uphold their basic human rights, and make sure that all of our young people have the opportunity to develop their God-given gifts and talents in service to the common good.

A Time of Remembrance and Prayer
for Those Lost and Those in Jeopardy

This week we celebrate two Feast Days – All Saints and All Souls. As MESA, we pray for all who have lost students, faculty and parents over the past year. Today also falls in the middle of the National Week of Prayer and Action with DREAMers, which runs Oct. 29 - Nov. 4. The Sisters of Mercy urge action by all people of faith across the country to support the Dream Act of 2017. Here's a way to engage right now.
