A Safe Place and SASS
Please support our united front against domestic and sexual violence

As you may have heard the exciting news, the Board of Directors and staff at A Safe Place and Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) have been working tirelessly over the past several months to create a merged organization to better service our communities and clients.

The commitment of all involved reflects the awareness and need to unite these two agencies to not only continue to save lives and be part of new futures, but to expand our resources to do even more. This united agency will also allow us to reach more children with our K-12 prevention education programs that aim to keep kids safe from sexual abuse, bullying and teen dating violence. I'd like to share one family's story that exemplifies why it is so important to bring our services together:
With very little resources and struggling to work two part-time jobs "Anna" was trying to build her  finances to enable her to escape her abusive spouse. After numerous calls to the police, Anna finally found the courage to reach out to our 24-hour hotline which led up to her making the brave choice to visit our office. Like many victims of domestic violence, she had spent years adapting to the physical and emotional abuse in order to protect her two small children. The final straw was when Anna's  daughter 'Lily' a first grader who learned after participating in our Safe Kids Strong Teens program that it was OK to tell a trusted grown-up if she was hurt or scared, went home and disclosed to her Mom that she was being sexually abused by her father.

The merger between A Safe Place and SASS will create a combined organization that will be even better equipped to help "Anna" find a safe environment for herself and her children
and a coordinated system that can provide emergency shelter, court advocacy, emotional support and connections to other community partners to help her family with a fresh start.

Recently, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and the Endowment for Health awarded us a grant to cover some of the upfront costs of the merger, but we need you - or most loyal friends and advocates - to lend your support in the most generous way possible. Please consider making a donation to our end of the year appeal.

Your gift today is critical to our success. We know you have many worthy causes to consider at this time of year and we thank you for making support of A Safe Place and SASS a priority. You can donate easily and safely online to both organizations above.

Warm regards,

Kathy Beebe, Executive Director

P.S Please make your gift today to help us continue to save lives and empower survivors like "Anna" to begin a new life and support our prevention education programs to protect children like 'Lily' and ultimately end violence altogether.
