Rebuilding Lives Through Structure, Community & Self-worth
A Word from Our Founder
Meet Susan
Susan Stader, Founder and Executive Director

Happy Birthday, America! On this date in 1776, the thirteen original colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on July 4th, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event with celebrations and fireworks (source: military.com).

Here at Next Step Recovery, we celebrate independence all year long. We rejoice over freedom from addiction. We commemorate the positive life changes of our residents. Although we may not light off fireworks or plan potlucks, the feelings of joy and independence are felt by those who succeed in another sober day, week, month, or year.

Our biggest celebration is coming up, right around the corner. Golf Fore Recovery will take place on Saturday, September 17th at Broadmoor Golf Links in Fletcher, North Carolina. This year we are celebrating 10 years of supporting recovery and healthy families and communities! If you can't join us for 18 holes, consider participating by sponsoring our tournament.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Meet Blake
They say no one is unique in this process but I feel as though my story is one of a kind. I was raised in a beach resort town on the eastern shore of Maryland and grew up as an only child. My mentality was one stereotypical of only children: "me, me, me." My parents split when I was two and by the age of 18, I was one of seven siblings between both parents. The whole "me me me" thing went out the window. My addiction really progressed, either due to jealousy or maybe resentment towards some people. In high school I was a star athlete and normal kid, but lying, cheating and stealing was also comfortable to me. Back then I didn't realize how many people I was actually hurting, including myself.

See For Yourself
Next Step Recovery is much more than just a halfway home for men.

Our daily 12-step focus, clinical counseling, life skills education, community meetings, job search support, transportation services and sober recreation program set us apart from traditional halfway houses and provide the extra support that makes long-term recovery possible.

NEXT STEP RECOVERY, INC  is a recovery house for young males 18 years of age or older who are recovering from alcohol and substance abuse.
