How do I select a charitable organization to support when shopping on AmazonSmile?
On your first visit to AmazonSmile ( smile.amazon.com ), you need to select Soroptimist International of Ventura to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Amazon will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at   smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.

How much of my purchase does Amazon donate?
The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases. The purchase price is the amount paid for the item minus any rebates and excluding shipping & handling, gift-wrapping fees, taxes, or service charges. From time to time, there may be special, limited time promotions that increase the donation amount on one or more products or services or provide for additional donations to charitable organizations.

AmazonSmile Donations to Charitable Organizations
100% of the donation amount generated from your eligible purchase on AmazonSmile will be donated. The donation amounts generated by your purchases are combined with the donation amounts from all other customers that selected the same organization, and each quarter the AmazonSmile Foundation makes donations to registered charitable organizations by electronic funds transfer. Donations are generally transferred approximately 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter.

Message

On October 14, I was one of over 100 joyful and enthusiastic Soroptimists from the Camino Real Region for the region's 19th Annual Fall Workshop held at Studio Movie Grill in Simi Valley and hosted by Soroptimist International of Simi Valley.  I'm proud to announce that Soroptimist International of Ventura (SIV) received three Certificates of Recognition for our participation in the Dream Programs and in honor of our efforts to increase Soroptimist International of the America's collective impact.

The focus of the meeting, was again, "Working Together as One" to promote the Dream Programs.  We had a great presentation and open conversation with clubs who have had successful Dream It Be It events and received some valuable information and tips that we can apply to our own SIV event.  The Dream It Be It program has had made an amazing impact on over 8,000 girls in 14 countries where participants reported that:
  • 90% - "feel more confident";

  • 80% - "have new tools to overcome obstacles to their success";
  • 87% - "feel more prepared to pursue their career goals";

  • 86% - "created achievable goals for their future".
I'm very excited for SIV to bring this exciting program to girls in our own community.

There was also a focused conversation on how we can better engage previous recipients of the Live Your Dream Award through mentorship and support - beyond the monetary award.  Suggestions included mentoring, job support, resume support, financial support (goods, gift cards), help with child care, and to include these remarkable women in our meetings and/or sponsoring Soroptimist membership.

Working together as one, we have the ability to make an impact in our community and beyond.  I invite women throughout our community to join SIV in this endeavor to impact the lives the women and girls everywhere.
