Sassy Stitches!

In case you haven't heard, our Dawn will be moving to California at the end of March.  We are beyond sad to see her go.  However, she will be close to her daughter and son-in-law and 2 precious grandsons.  We're happy about that part but man are we going to miss her.  To celebrate her awesomeness, we have planned a special secret day for her this coming Thursday, March 23rd.  She doesn't know where we're taking her yet!!  SO - Sassy Stitches will be closed all day this coming Thursday.  We will re-open on Friday as usual.  Dawn's last day at the shop will be next Saturday, March 25.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Our beginners are so much fun!  Annie, our awesome beginners' teacher, brought Linda upstairs to let me share in her first viewing of her first quilt after being quilted.  Her face says it all!
Planning is well underway for this years "Airing of the Quilts!"  Plan to join Downtown Franklin merchants on Saturday, May 13, 2017.  Vendors will be set up and shops open at 9:00.  The even will last until 4:00.  Sassy Stitches will be open at 10:00 as usual but remain open until 4:00 for this special event.  We have a great class in the works on Friday, May 12th to make a sweet wall hanging.  Pictures and more info will be available soon.  We will also have a Make & Take class on Saturday.  Stay tuned for more details!

Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew" times this year or if
you're not in a club, just come sew!  We are changing this a little bit after some customer feedback.  Regardless of whether you want to do some handwork or sew on your machine, come on either of the two "Sit & Sew" days provided each month and SEW!!! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!  Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. You can order lunch or bring your own. Come sew with us!   Did I mention it's FREE ?!?!?

There has been a delay in the publication of Deb's new BOM pattern. We will keep you posted!

Sassy Stitches  will be happy to help you select fabrics and gather the Creative Grids tools you need to get ready for workshops or classes. We also have special sales for attendees at local quilting events.
Remember that we carry Creative Grids rulers and tools so call or come by the shop to get all of your supplies! We will be glad to ship them to you if you don't live close by.

I so appreciate your business.  I can't express how much it means to me that you choose Sassy Stitches.  Thank you SEW much! Until next Sunday, have a wonderful week and come see us!

Janome Memory Craft 15000
I found this short video that explains some of the embroidery features of the Janome Memory Craft 15000. Remember we offer financing at Sassy Stitches.  Come in and test drive the 15000 or any of our machines.  We love helping you find just the right one for you!

Friday, March 31st
10:00 - 1:00

Paul Johnson
Mr. Paul Johnson is well-known for his beautiful wood work.  He recently made me a few pieces that I love!  I asked for a quilt ladder to display quilts and also a ruler keeper.  Here's what he made.

Paul left a book at the shop of several of his creations.  He can also create a custom piece if you have something in mind.  I'm a little partial to his sewing furniture but he can make much more. He delivered 5 ruler keepers to the shop this past week and they are ALL gone!  We will be ordering more! Stop in or call the shop to get his information.  His work is truly beautiful!
Show & Tell
I think Cindy has made more baby quilts so far this year than anybody we know!  Each one is lovingly made and there are some lucky babies out there who will be receiving these! Cindy's granddaughter, Chloe, let us know that she helped with the colors because, after all, the quilts were made for kids and she's a kid.  You did an excellent job, Chloe!

So I got a little carried away with some REALLY BRIGHT wool.  It looks like an Easter basket exploded in our Handwork Hive!

We are excited to announce that we have scheduled some classes with  instructor Nancy Sapin!  Nancy is a  Freelance National Educator representing Sulky of America.  She creates beautiful projects and shares her wealth of information as an awesome teacher.  The first class we have on the calendar is "Pinweaving Portraits" scheduled for May 6.  More information on this class soon. Here is a sneak peak at some of Nancy's pinweaving.

I finished my latest wool project. Something about working with wool is so therapeutic.

This quilt looks so soft and cuddly. Thanks for sharing it with us, Bonnie.

Check out this quilt!!!  Connie shared her Jen Kingwell masterpiece with us!  Pictures do not do it justice.

Here's one more shot of Teresa's window work.  Thanks, Sharon, for the loan of these sweet kids!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
