Join us to view this touching TED talk with Ash Beckham who offers a fresh approach to empathy and openness.  It starts with understanding that everyone, at some point in his or her life, has experienced hardship.  The only way out, says Beckham, is to open the door and step out of your closet.

Founded in 1972 with the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization. Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, 
PFLAG is committed to advancing equality and full societal affirmation of LGBTQ people through its threefold mission of:
support, education, and advocacy.
PFLAG has over 400 chapters and 200,000 members and supporters crossing multiple generations of American families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas in all 50 states.

Our monthly meetings are at the heart of what we do.  We are committed to creating a safe space for  support,  education and advocacy.
If you are: LGBTQ , a parent, a family member, a friend or ally, or in any stage of the coming out process, you are welcome at our meetings.  If you are new and need support you are welcome.  If you can provide support for someone else, you are welcome. 
PFLAG Santa Barbara meets the second Monday of every month at the First United Methodist Church, 305 E Anapamu St. at Garden St.
