Colleagues,

In our continuous efforts to improve, it’s always important that we prioritize central systems that support the instructional and business operations of our schools. The core mission of our central office is to serve as a collaborative support center to fuel the work happening in our classrooms, and all of our systems and processes should always be aligned to this mission.

I am excited to announce that we are preparing for the launch of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in January 2019. The ERP system is our platform for all major aspects of business operations. Our current ERP system is APECS, which encompasses all of our core HR functions, including payroll, as well as budgeting, financial reporting, accounting, capital projects, procurement and inventory.

This upgrade is long overdue, as APECS is outdated and has many limitations that can lead to inefficiencies and risks. I’m simply not willing to take any chances of our business systems impacting the quality of instruction we deliver in our schools, so we will be transitioning to the state-of-the-art Oracle Cloud for our ERP functions. Outlined below are some of the key enhancements we’ll see with the Oracle Cloud, which will help everyone be more efficient and productive in their work.
Even though this upgrade is a rather long way off, I think it’s important for everyone to understand the investments we’re making to improve the District. Our business is student achievement, so it’s imperative that we stay at the forefront of business technology and infrastructure to be as effective as possible in every phase of our work in order to support our students.

Our IT team is leading this project with collaboration from several other central office departments. They'll be providing more updates in the months ahead, including training information for everyone who will be directly involved with the new ERP system.

In the meantime, feel free to send questions or feedback to ERPProject@scsk12.org .
