Thank You!
..is not enough to say for what you did.
"Repairing Homes - Rebuilding Lives!"
Thanks to you over 580 volunteers completed 598 home repair projects on 126 residential homes (and one non-profit facility) for 232 Northland residents in 2016.  On behalf of them, thank you for transforming their lives and restoring their dignity.
In 2017 we received a record 170 applications for service. Though our volunteers and Project Managers are working hard to complete many more  home repair projects before Christmas, we anticipate carrying a Waiting List of 35 into the new year.
You see, even though we helped over 232 people last year, there are still many more in our neighborhoods and communities yet to be helped.
Vickie is a 70 year old widow who needed home safety modifications including grab bars, handrails, and a chair lift; here is her story:
"Thank you is not enough to say for what your organization did for me. I was scheduled for knee surgery, but my cancer has returned, so that has been cancelled. The chairlift and other repairs/safety modifications you have made will make my life easier and happier, I no longer have to be afraid as I go thru this 2nd round of chemo, because now I feel a lot safer and know that I can stay in my home of 41 years (God willing) for good."
Every day, your support makes stories like Vickie's possible.
We simply can't do it without you.  Your support makes a real, lasting, and transformative impact in the lives of those who are still in need. During the month of December, we will send weekly emails highlighting more of our accomplished 2017 projects and services. Following are four before and after project photos to inspire you this holiday season.
Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
Today, we're launching our 2017 Year-End Campaign. Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation of $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help us create a safe and healthy home for more families? Many thanks to those who have already given.

Before & After
House 1
Check out this incredible overhang the volunteer crew from St. Stephen Lutheran in Liberty  built on Rebuilding Day! This young homeowner with a visual impairment can now enjoy sitting outside his home enjoying his surroundings. As the winter weather approaches, this structure will help keep his entry clear of snow and ice.  View more photos .

House 2
On Rebuilding Day 2017, the volunteer crew from LDS Doniphan Ward created this lovely stairway for a 57 year old woman in need of safe access to the road and her mailbox.

House 5
A new volunteer crew from First Christian Church of Platte City  assisted a lovely couple in their 70's on Rebuilding Day 2017. They needed their kitchen window sill repaired, installation of new snap-in laminate flooring (already purchased by the homeowner) in the kitchen and entry, and the back deck needed steps and handrails installed. What a difference these home repairs made.  View more photos .

House 8
Volunteers from The Grove Church made safety modifications at the home of this 76 year old woman on Rebuilding Day 2017. Her front steps were too tall, so the crew built low-rise steps and a handrail for accessibility. In the back, a new raised porch/deck helps with water runoff, while increasing safety and usability.

The Challenge - Waiting List
Services are provided to at-risk or under-served individuals and families including veterans, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families. Households served are those who cannot financially or physically complete the repairs themselves. The majority of clients live in poverty, with an average 2016 annual household income of $21,000. Many client households struggle to pay monthly bills, rely on food pantries and other providers for basic necessities, and cannot begin to afford the costs of home safety modifications/repairs.

The need is so great. RTKC currently has a Waiting List of 35 homeowners needing assistance. Repairs needed range from broken furnaces, flooring, roof leaks, broken windows, water problems, grab bars, hand rails, chair lift, wheelchair ramps, weatherization, water heater, and leaky plumbing to name a few. If you have "handy man" skills and would like to help us fulfill this list contact Clay today.
