Dear Friends:

The Child Center of NY is growing! In the past few years, we’ve gone from serving about 16,000 children and families to more than 30,000 annually. We’ve added an entire new program area and have taken on new community centers, programs, and challenges by the day.

Today, I’m pleased to announce changes to our senior leadership team to help us manage these exciting developments.

Jaime Angarita , previously our Chief Operating Officer, will be assuming full-time responsibility as our Chief Development Officer, a role he has unofficially filled for a year.

Linda Rodriguez , previously our Vice President of Early Childhood and Prevention, will be taking over our Behavioral Health division.

Tanya Krien , previously our Director of Early Head Start, and  Marie Mason , our previous Director of the Ficalora Family Foundation Head Start, have been promoted to Vice President and will now oversee our Early Childhood Education programs.

Robert Cizma , our current Vice President of Health Homes and Integrated Care, will be taking responsibility for all of our Prevention programs, in addition to HHIC.

To meet the challenges of our growing Youth Development division — which serves nearly 10,000 young people annually — Amanda Etienne , previously Associate Director of Youth Development, has been promoted to Vice President of the division, serving alongside our other Youth Development Vice President, Nick Ferreira.

Please view our new Executive Leadership page to learn more about each of these leaders, as well as the other members of our senior team. I am so proud of each of them — they all have the experience, vision, heart, and passion that make The Child Center what it is: an innovative social impact agency that makes a lasting, positive, and profound difference in children’s lives. I am confident these changes will better position us for the future.

Thank you for all the support that has been so pivotal to our growth, and please see below for more news and blog updates.

Warm regards,
Traci Donnelly

We felt compelled to speak out about the administration’s policy of forcibly separating migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border, which to date has affected thousands of children. Don't miss this statement in which we condemn — in the strongest possible terms — a policy that does not prioritize the well-being of children and, in fact, causes them irreparable harm.

We are beyond proud of our Redfern scholars and staff for this amazing video called “New York: A Heck of a Town.” They wrote all the lyrics and produced the video with The Groovy Projects. It was a cathartic way for the kids to express pride about their city — and their community center — while also talking about the violence around them.

"I contacted The Child Center because I was trying to get a little bit of help. …The kind of help I ended up getting was very different — and very good for all of us.” Check out our summer newsletter which includes our client Jessica’s Story, in her own words, along with other agency news and updates such as a recap of Gala 2018, The Child Center's historic LGBTQ forum, and how Rockaways youth and families said “no” to gun violence.
