Grandfather Home for Children
is ready to protect the kids.

Grandfather Home hosted a specialized crisis training last week for local law enforcement at the Hayes Campus on Hickory Nut Gap Road in Banner Elk.

Respondents from the Banner Elk Police Department, Beech Mountain Police Department, Seven Devils Police Department, Avery County EMS, Avery County Sheriff's Office and the Banner Elk Fire Department came to the ministry's campus when a shooter (being played by a Grandfather Home staff member) shot a Grandfather Home employee and took another hostage.

This training took place during school hours, so the children were at Grandfather Academy while emergency personnel exercised their specialized training.

The training event was of great benefit to all emergency personnel involved as well as Grandfather Home for Children.
