The Town of Weaverville held its annual Arbor Day celebration on Satruday, April 22, 2017. The celebration was held at the Main Street Nature Park. Mayor Dottie Sherrill lead the program with her remarks, as well as reading a fittiing poem for Arbor Day. A tree was planted in the Nature Park during the celebration in honor of former town manager Mike Morgan, who was present for the event. Town Council adopted their annual Arbor Day Proclamation during their Council meeting on April 17, 2017.

Weaverville Garden Club Annual Sale
|
The Garden Club of Weaverville’s annual Rummage Sale is Saturday, May 6, 8:00 to 1:00 at the Lake Louise Community Center. Selling plants, housewares, tools, books, jewelry/accessories, furniture, home decor, garden items and homemade baked goods—all at bargain prices. Proceeds support Weaverville beautification projects-- the Main Street Nature Park, wildflower garden and colorful flower beds. Donations are accepted on Friday, May 5th at the Lake Louise Center 8:30 and 1:00. Sorry, no clothing. The Garden Club is a non-profit 501©3 organization and donations are tax deductible.
The annual Garden Club rummage sale supports beatification projects for downtown and the Nature Park. The Garden Club is a non-profit organization that is open to the public and provides gardening assistance and educational programs for WNC residents.

A special Memorial Day Observance will be held at
Lake Louise Park in Weaverville at Noon on Monday, May 29th.
The program features Air Force veterans and nationally-acclaimed musicians Anita and Luis Diaz from Balsam, NC. Anita performed at the White House with the U.S. Air Force Band and has also performed at events ranging from NASCAR to NFL games. Both Luis, a classical/jazz/rock guitarist, and Anita have performed with artists such as Amy Grant, Vince Gill, and Restless Heart. They are currently supporting the music ministry at local churches.
The program will include the North Buncombe Junior ROTC drill team, a rifle salute by the Weaverville Police, and taps performed by the Weaverville Fire Department. This free event will have unreserved seating and free parking.

Music on Main -- Downtown Weaverville

Music on Main is a free concert, open to the public that will be held on
Main Street in Downtown Weaverville in front of Town Hall. On June 23, 2017 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. there will be music, vendors, kids activities and great music! The opening band will be Raising Caine a local Americana band fronted by lead singer and "outlaw cowboy" Caine McDonald. The headliner is The Broadcast, an Asheville based soul, blues and rock band that is rocking the music world with their authentic style. Check them out at www.thebroadcastmusic.com. They have shared the stage with Mavis Staples, John Prine, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, The Wood Brothers, Brandi Carlisle, Keller Williams and more. It is sure to be a great time!
There will be a kids area/activities including the Weaverville Fire Department fire truck and fire education, sidewalk chalk, hula hoops and activities like face painting. There will also be non-profit and private business vendors! Jewelry, Greenways and more!
Volunteers are going to make this a great event. We encourage community participation, even if only for an hour! Please coming out to make Music on Main run smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering you can sign-up here.
Bring the whole fmily and enjoy Weaverville’s downtown. Grab dinner, listen to good music and meet old and new friends. We’ll see you there!
