Wednesday Encounter Winter/Spring 2017
Adult Electives

"Live Like Jesus" is our theme this year, and each of the studies listed below is built around our mission statement: "We exist to help more people get to know Jesus and live like him every day."

Here's What God Says to Hazel Dell...A Study of the Book of Titus  - In the midst of muddy, and what often seems like treacherous waters, the church can become quite confused trying to be relevant in the present culture.  God speaks through all this confusion to keep us on mission. (Led by Mark Wright)

Understanding Islam  - Are you confused about the Muslim faith and culture? Most American Christians are! This eight-session study will help you understand the difference between Christianity and Islam, as well as prepare you to talk to Muslims about Jesus Christ. You will learn why Jesus is superior to Mohammad, the Bible is more trustworthy than the Quran, that Christianity is more fulfilling than Islam, and much more. (Led by David Smith)

Prayer-Walking: Praying on Site with Insight - In this class, we will learn about the power of prayer and how to pray powerfully and effectively. Learn the biblical foundation and practical guidelines of prayer-walking, based on a book with that same title, written by Steve Hawthorne and Graham Kendrick. (Led by Jon Vance)

Walking as Jesus Walked - 1 John 2:6 says, "Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did." Have you ever thought about what this means? Have you ever thought about how Jesus walked? Have you ever asked yourself, "Am I walking as Jesus did?" Through this elective, we will dive in to what it means to walk as Jesus walked. We will discover not only what Jesus did, but also how Jesus did what He did. As we study why Jesus acted the way he did, we will be looking for a pattern we can follow to faithfully think and act as He did. (Led by Chris Dunbar)

Courageous Men of the Bible   (Men's study) -  In our desire to be men of integrity, we need to consider our journey of faith and our obedience to God. He wants to redeem our weaknesses, make our lives a blessing to others, and teach us to be strong, yet vulnerable. Christ will transform you by turning temptation into obedience and enable you to leave a lasting legacy of spiritual fortitude. Finally, He will teach you to dream big, resolve your doubts, and overcome your failures . (Led by Scott Mitchell)

Men are Like Waffles and Women are Like Spaghetti   ( Marriage study) - This fun and insightful study explains the divine differences between husbands and wives. The key to marital happiness is understanding that a man is like a waffle (each element of his life is in a separate box) and a woman is like spaghetti (everything in her life touches everything else). Learn how to keep communication cooking, let gender differences work for you, help each other relieve stress, achieve fulfillment in romantic relationships, and coordinate parenting so kids get the best of both Mom and Dad. (Led by Bob and Becky Beer)

Adult Worship Choir - Are you a talented vocalist?  Do you love to sing?  You're welcome to join the choir.  We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 6:20-7:30 in the choir room, just left of the stage.  Singers of all experience levels are welcome.  Come and help prepare music for Sunday worship and be a part of a great community! (Led by Joel Phillips)
