A Message From Mr. Stoops

We had a beautiful celebration on Saturday, as our second grade students made their First Holy Communion. Congratulations to these angels as they received the Body and Blood of our Lord for the first time. It is my prayerful hope that they always remember this occasion and continue their development for understanding the joy, meaning, and fulfillment of the Holy Eucharist every time they receive this precious gift of our faith.

God Bless,
Corey

To keep all of our kiddos reading throughout the summer, the GA Library will be having another "Book Swap" May 14-25. Clean off those home bookshelves and bring in gently used books to the library to trade for new books for summer! Please make sure the books are appropriate for our school and in good condition; there is no limit on the number brought in to swap. For every book brought in, students will receive a ticket to trade in for another book. We would like to have books brought in to the library by Friday, May 11, but we will be accepting books for the next 2 weeks. The Ecology Club would like to thank all who participated in our Earth Week activities! The last meeting of the year will be on Thursday,  May 17th, from 3:00pm - 4:00pm in Ms. Myer's room. At this meeting, we'll be putting our heads together to discuss what fun and interesting topics and activities we want to cover in the 2018-2019 school year. We'll also get outside for a little bit to discover fun ways we can study the ecology of our own backyard. If this is your child's first meeting, please email Chelsea Almer for a permission slip.

On Tuesday, May 22, at 8:15 Mass, Guardian Angels Parish will pay tribute to Rosemary Kapp as she retires. Teacher Tutors Available for the Summer

GA teachers are available this summer to help students review what they learned this year and make sure they are prepared for the next grade in the Fall. You have flexibility to schedule a tutor for the entire summer or for just a few weeks before school starts. Attached is a  flyer with more information.
School Supply Toolboxes

Orders can now be placed for School Supply Toolboxes for the 18-19 school year. This  offers a convenience for parents to have all of your child's needed items collected and ready for the start of class. Orders for toolboxes can be placed online through June 15th.  The supplies are then shipped directly to the school and ready for pickup on August 12th after the 10:00 and 12:00 Masses. More information is attached.

Participation in this program is not required. If parents would like to shop on their own, grade level supply lists can be found on our website.

If you have any questions, contact Jill Buchmann.
Forest Hills & Milford Busing For 2018-2019

Any family planning to use Forest Hills School District, Milford School District, or New Richmond EVSD buses for the 2018-2019 school year must complete the private and parochial transportation request form, which can be found on our website. This form should be submitted directly to the Forest Hills Transportation office no later than June 30th. It can be mailed, faxed,or emailed; details are on the form. One form is required for each child planning to ride the bus. The form for Milford students is due by June 11th Do not return these forms to GA
Also, Forest Hills announced new starting/dismissal times for each of their buildings for next school year. As a result, we will need to make an adjustment to our afternoon dismissal procedures for GA students who ride afternoon busses. It is our understanding, after working with the transportation office, that all Forest Hills busses will be able to leave GA by 2:50 and all busses will leave at the same time. This will be a welcome change to our school, as students will be able to arrive to their homes much quicker! Morning arrival will not change.
Art News

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the Spring Art Show, especially Leslie Pinto, who coordinated everything for me. The students loved seeing their work in the black frames on display this year, and we received many positive comments about partnering with Artome framing and raising nearly $500! Thanks to all the families who took the time to come to the weekend art show and see all the awesome work that our students produce each week!

A big thank you also to Madison Bowe and Annie Mulvaney. These two 3rd graders held a joint birthday party and asked for art room supplies, instead of gifts for themselves. We now have playdoh, legos, puzzles, spiro-graph sets, air dry clay, colored pencils, and more--all to stock up for our Imagination Station when school begins in the Fall. Because of the generosity of these "angels", students who finish their work early, or earn free choice time, will know be able to continue creating with brand new and exciting supplies!

This summer be sure to visit the Cincinnati Art Museum, Taft Museum, and Contemporary Art Center, especially on a rainy day when you don't want to be outside or on their Family Fun days. The CAM and CAC have rooms designed for children to explore art and they have free admission. The Taft Museum is free on Sunday. You'll be surprised how much your child can tell you about the elements of art, types of art, and various artists.

I've enjoyed teaching your young artists. We've had a lot of fun learning and exploring art this year. Have a wonderfully creative summer!

Mrs. Anne Pavely, Art Teacher

This procession will go from Guardian Angels Church along Cambridge to Beacon before returning to GA for Benediction. Please join us with your families in giving public witness to our faith and our love for Jesus Christ both here in our community and in unison with our brothers and sisters in every country!

The calendar shows school events, parish events, and much more.  Just a reminder, events posted on the school website, www.gaschool.org , only include those open to the public or new families who may not have activated a Rediker account yet. All other event information is posted in Rediker, which is password protected.
Find GA News On Facebook
This time of year gets incredibly busy and Facebook is a great way to stay-up-to-date on everything happening in our school and parish. Guardian Angels uses our Facebook page to keep families informed about upcoming events, news, and other information regarding our school and parish.
Facebook has changed how you see information from the pages you follow. These changes mean you will see fewer posts from Pages you like, including Guardian Angels. That means you have to do more than just Like our page to see our updates in the future. If you want to make sure you continue to see information posted through the Guardian Angels page, please make sure you go to our page, click Following (just under the cover photo), and then choose See First. This way anything we share will still be seen in your newsfeed.
Support GA While You Shop On Amazon
You can now support Guardian Angels Parish when you shop at Amazon.com! GA is a newly registered participant in the AmazonSmile Program. You can sign-up to have a portion of your purchase sales come back to Guardian Angels. When you make purchases through the AmazonSmile page, and have GA selected as your beneficiary, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products back to GA. You have to be shopping from smile.amazon.com page of the site for us to receive the benefit.
Kroger Community Rewards
Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program.
Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. Register your rewards card online and select Guardian Angels as your beneficiary. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping. Enrolling does NOT impact the points you use to redeem for discounts at the pump.
Have You Checked Out Formed.org
Guardian Angels invites you to explore all of the resources offered through  Formed.org  by registering with the parish code 4EVXRB. Registration is complimentary to all parishioners and residents of our parish area, so be sure to tell your friends. Great programs, videos, books and more are added every month.
