All CSA Shares have been Pro=Rated for the remainder of the season!

Opening Your Box
When receiving your box you will notice that it comes in good condition. We ask that you help us keep it that way, so we may continue to use it many times this season.

Note that the top of your box has a crease. This crease is where you should begin to open the box.

Be careful and push back towards the crease of your box to open it. Try not to break the box in any way, as that will shorten its life span and increase our costs.

Open the box by pushing towards the crease until the tongue comes out of the L-shaped holes.

Carefully open the remaining folds on the top of your box.

Pull out the contents of your box by removing the entire bag. "Please reuse this bag as a trash bag in your bathroom or office after you are finished with it."

Place the bag of vegetables into your refrigerators crisper drawer for best storage.

Please leave your empty box at your doorstep the following week for our driver to pick up. "Please do not leave us any bags, rubber bands, clam shells or any packing material, just the box."

Hats off to our field crew! These guys roughed it out through all that rain on Wednesday just to make sure that everyone got their produce on time. They have been doing a great job for our CSA, Farmers Markets and Wholesale Customer. To keep a good crew like this takes money, so get your Winter CSA Share today and help us to keep this thing moving forward.

Matt sowed lots of transplants at the beginning of this week as the crew was out working on that big tomato crop across the street from the greenhouse. We have already seen germination on some of the seedlings, which is a good thing...

Our corn crop is coming to a lull. We planted 1 acre this season and have been harvesting from the first 3/4 acre. We have some corn for this coming week and then we will have a week or 2 with no corn, until the final 1/4 acre finishes off. Matt did sow another lot of corn this week and we should be picking that in September, just in time for our Winter CSA.

Some members have not been returning their boxes, so please do so. We should not need to keep purchasing those cartons. Lets work together on this and recycle them here within our community...

Matt has been very busy managing everything. He claims that now is the time for our Community to step it up and purchase a Winter CSA Share. He has seen enough troubles in the middle of the summers past to know that we are too busy to make house calls for sales. He expects that our CSA Members will do their part and continue to support us for the fall/winter but is not certain that they understand that now is the time to do it, not in September. By then it will be too late and that is the problem that we faced last year.

We would really appreciate that everyone purchase their Winter Season CSA share now! This is the time of the year when we spend loads of money on labor and we appreciate your financial contributions more than ever.

We must keep the money flowing in from the CSA, Farmers Markets, Restaurants and Wholesalers. We cannot afford any lulls in the cash flow...

Contents of This Weeks CSA Box

Below are pictures of the vegetables that you will be getting in your next box of the season. This should help clear up any confusion of our product that you may not be familiar with as of yet. If you click on the pictures. some of the harder items, will give you a recipe idea. Remember that you can always google the name of the product and get loads of recipe ideas off the web.
This is going to be our 5th week of corn in a row. What a great way to kick off the summer...
Orange Carrots are always a refreshing treat in the summer.
We are now beginning to pick our slicing tomatoes. This week will be the first week of them for our CSA. These first tomatoes of the season come from a small field, but we have that larger field coming on strong and we are pretty sure that we will be swimming in tomatoes within the next 2-3 weeks...
Right now we are picking Sicilian, Rosa Bianca and Falcon Eggplants. They are very young and tender, perfect for your CSA box...
Cabbage is very healthy for you and can be eaten raw and cooked. It is great used in soups, stir fries, coleslaw, in a crock pot with ham, and nice for making sauerkraut
You have to love these small, little Spanish Onions...

Our Marketmore Cucumbers are a refreshing treat during the summer months.
