Opening Your Box
When receiving your box you will notice that it comes in good condition. We ask that you help us keep it that way, so we may continue to use it many times this season.

Note that the top of your box has a crease. This crease is where you should begin to open the box.

Be careful and push back towards the crease of your box to open it. Try not to break the box in any way, as that will shorten its life span and increase our costs.

Open the box by pushing towards the crease until the tongue comes out of the L-shaped holes.

Carefully open the remaining folds on the top of your box.

Pull out the contents of your box by removing the entire bag. "Please reuse this bag as a trash bag in your bathroom or office after you are finished with it."

Place the bag of vegetables into your refrigerators crisper drawer for best storage.

Please leave your empty box at your doorstep the following week for our driver to pick up. "Please do not leave us any bags, rubber bands, clam shells or any packing material, just the box."

We are happy to see how all our fields have been closed down properly for winter and sown into cover crops. We are also proud to see how well our winter crops are coming along. Everyone of our workers are excited to see the first winter tunnels going up in RF1. Though we still have many more to go to cover the 1 acre of ground that will be in production for this winter's "Penguin Season".

You may ask, what is the Penguin Season? We'll our Penguin Season is our 3 coldest months of the year (December, January and February). The months that most other farms will never attempt to grow any crops. We, however, are different and are very well versed in our tunnel production. We know exactly what to grow and how to do it well during these cold winter months! Our VIP Members can vouch for that...

Matt always got a kick out of something he herd from a friend who came to the USA from El Salvador. His friend recalled when he was just a kid leaving his homeland for the USA. The boy understood that he may never see his family or friends again, but he wanted/needed to go in search of a better life.

At his departing party all of his family and friends gathered around to have a send off party. Some were telling stories of how it gets really cold in most parts of the USA and that it was nothing like the weather in El Salvador. They had great laughs that evening teasing the boy about the cold, but one of the elders came to him and said not to worry about the cold in the USA. He said,  "It's not cold until you see penguins"... Everyone at the party had a great laugh over this as they bid their friend good bye.

One winter Matt was working with that young man from El Salvador and they were harvesting greens from some winter tunnels. It was extremely cold that day and the produce was icing up as they shuttled it from the tunnels into the truck. The bad thing was that the truck was parked just 20 feet from the tunnel.

That day Matt and his friend got some great laughs in, when they were not tensing up from the cold. Matt remembers how they continued to tell each other that it was not really cold because they saw no penguins around...

A Special one day event will be held  this Sunday November 22 from 10 AM until 1 PM in the parking lot of Stave and Cookie's Restaurant. We'll be there, will you???
