FAQ's

Q: What if I am going on Vacation and I can't pick up my share?

A: No Problem!  You can schedule your box on hold when you are gone and reschedule your make-up box to be delivered at a later date.

  1. Log into our website
  2. Click 'holds' at the bottom of the yellow menu, and 'schedule' a new vacation.
  3. The 'starting week' should begin the Tuesday before the first delivery you'll miss.
  4. Select the number of deliveries you'll miss in the 'number of weeks' menu.
  5. Schedule your replacement share. The 'double box week' allows you to select the week you'll be able to pick up your replacement share. If you missed more than one share delivery you'll be able to schedule multiple double boxes. (Biweekly members can schedule to pick up their box on an off-week, preventing the need for a double box on a regularly scheduled delivery week).

Friends of the Farm: Honeypie

Honeypie cafe and bakery features Midwest-inspired food, made from scratch, and reminiscent of your grandmother's cooking. The restaurant uses local, seasonal ingredients whenever possible and this commitment is why they're apart of the Braise Restaurant Support Agriculture group (BRSA). BRSA is a cooperative of local restaurants that work together to source and purchase food from local farms and producers, like us here at LotfotL. Honeypie also works with Kompost Kids to compost their kitchen's food waste and coffee grounds. In addition to the great organizations that Honeypie is apart of, they also have a service called Piegrams that enables you to send a mini pie (and a personalized note on cards designed by a Milwaukee artist) anywhere in the continental US. Visit Honeypie for breakfast, lunch, or dinner during the week, or brunch, lunch, or dinner on the weekends at 2643 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in Milwaukee. Or check out their website or Facebook page. Thanks for being a great friend of the farm, Honeypie!

The Dirt on the Farm:
The health benefits of your Winter food stash.

Eating local organic food from your farmer is a great way to ensure you are getting the foods your body needs for this time of year.  Winter veggies are often seen as starchy comfort foods, that are guilty pleasures, not to be equated with health. In the cooler seasons though, our bodies need some of these extra starches to help keep the body warm and give us energy during the cold gloomy days.  These foods are also great vitamin and nutrient sources making them much better choices than breads and pasta. Keeping our immune system strong and maintaining a healthy body through the cold months can be done through seasonal eating. Take a look at what some of these classic late season foods have to offer.  Learn more....
