Quiet Zone Update

The city of San Clemente is moving forward with the process for establishing a quiet zone at the Senda de la Playa/Avenida Estacion railroad crossing, which would include the North Beach pedestrian railroad crossing.

The quiet zone is expected to be in place by early 2012. Questions regarding the quiet zone may be directed

to Laura Ferguson.

All construction is subject to unexpected schedule changes. If you have questions about work at a specific crossing, please call (888) 855-RAIL.

This construction is part of OCTA's rail safety enhancement program. OCTA is partnering with local cities on the first countywide effort to enhance rail safety at 50 railroad crossings in Orange County. Once upgraded, these crossings will meet the Federal Railroad Administration's requirements for a quiet zone, an area along the train tracks where locomotive horns are not routinely sounded unless an emergency exists.
