Quiet Zone Update
The city of San Juan Capistrano is moving forward with the process for establishing a quiet zone at five railroad crossings in San Juan Capistrano, including Oso Road, Verdugo Street, La Zanja Street, Del Obispo Street and Avenida Aeropuerto. A quiet zone is expected to be established by early 2012. Questions about the quiet zone may be directed to Nasser Abbaszadeh.

All construction is subject to unexpected schedule changes. If you have questions about work at a specific crossing, please call (888) 855-RAIL.

This construction is part of OCTA's rail safety enhancement program. OCTA is partnering with local cities on the first countywide effort to enhance rail safety at 50 railroad crossings in Orange County. Once upgraded, these crossings will meet the Federal Railroad Administration's requirements for a quiet zone, an area along the train tracks where locomotive horns are not routinely sounded unless an emergency exists.
