Weekend Preview from the First United Methodist Church of Eugene!
Advent is off to an amazing start! And you don't want to miss today's Friday Advent experience from "Concerts at First!" Today at noon Dr. Barbara Baird is playing the beautiful music of Jean Langlais, Richard Purvis and Helmuth Walcha, including some favorite seasonal carols like In Dulci Jubilo and Greensleeves. Get away from the hustle and bustle, come into the quiet space of First United Methodist Church and enjoy the sounds of the Hochhalter organ for 45 minutes.
Worship this Sunday
Pastor Adam will have just gotten back from the Western Jurisdiction Immigration Taskforce meeting in Tucson, Arizona, as we celebrate Advent II together. We are especially excited for our choir's anthem, "There Shall a Star Come Out of Jacob," a unique and powerful piece by Felix Mendelssohn!

Each week in Advent you will hear themes that call us to care for immigrants and migrants in our communities. We worship a savior whose family was driven across borders, who spent time
in the wilderness, and who calls us to care for the stranger and the migrant in our midst. Please join us this Advent in opening our hearts and minds to how God is calling us to sacrifice and serve on their behalf.

Godly Play this Sunday
This Sunday we move to the second card in the Advent Godly Play series, focusing on Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem. As we adventure together into the mystery of Christmas, we know that God gives us courage and strength for our own journeys.

Godly Play is a great fit for young people age 4 - 12. Children under 4 are welcome to join Maria and Sarah in room 10 for stories and play.
5:00pm Restore in the Chapel
All are welcome at 5:00pm for a time of music and reflection in the chapel! Followed by...

6:00pm Potluck with the Interfaith Family Shelter

After Restore plan to join us in the fellowship hall for a church-wide feast with our friends who have been staying with us these past two weeks!
Prayers
This Sunday's green sheet will include many of the prayer requests from our community. However late in the week we received word that Penny Palmer's brother had a significant health emergency while in Mexico. Please keep Larry, Penny and their family in your prayers.
