Back to School Blessings/ Meet and Greet
IT"S A NEW BEGINNING!
Sunday, August 19 during the 9:30 A.M. hour we will meet to have a little 'meet  & greet' for our NEW Children's Ministry Coordinator, Kimberly Topo.
We can have a fun time with Monkey, the Piñata, and refreshments to get to know her, any new kiddos, and Adult Leaders a bit better. Hopefully the weather will allow us to do our piñata and refreshments just outside  the entrance  under the tree so we can hang up the piñata! So come on out and monkey around with us a bit!
    Back pack Blessings
will be at the 10:30 A.M. service so have your school aged kiddos bring their backpacks ready for school and receive a blessing to start a new school year's adventure. Know that we will continue to pray for their success and safety and joy for this whole school year."
Bless other students in need
School supplies should be donated by August 12th. There will be baskets in the Childrens Chapel for school supplies and gently used backpacks to be given to children in need. Our first group will be those to whom we give POWER PACKS each week at Hickory Tavern Elementary School, some children in our own Hispanic Congregation of whom Fr. Fred has made note, and if sufficient are given, we will add some from Simpsonville Elementary to be determined by teachers there. Goodwill has lots of backpacks for $2-4 that are in good condition if you don't have a little one's to pass along when they get their new one in a few weeks! It is essential that children have what they need if they are to be given the best opportunity to learn the skills needed to succeed in the world.
Supplies are already on the shelves at Walmart, Dollar Tree and local drug store where SALES are on. Staples also has a great deal on school stuff as well. It would be a good idea to get them prior to the rush. If you do not have time and prefer to donate $$$ to assist, see Trisha Thackston-Ganner or place a "School Supplies $$$" envelope in the plate on Sunday.
A list of needs will be posted in the Narthex as well.

Summer goes by so fast! Children will go back to school this month which means our Power PACK ministry will begin again soon. Last year, we provided weekend food bags for 29 children at Hickory Tavern Elementary/Middle School. We do not know yet what this year's needs will
be, but it's time to prepare and stock our pantry!
Please help us stock up by purchasing what you can. There's a wagon in the Reception Hall to collect your donations. Thank you so much for your support.
