Weekly Letter From Our Pastor

Famous Last Words: "Who's in Heaven?"
It's a question every pastor gets asked, sooner or later: "What happens to my pet when it dies?" First time I was years ago when a teary eyed little boy approached me before worship on a Sunday morning. Too distraught for words, the father spoke for the son, "Nathan's got a question for you, pastor. The dog he's had his whole life, our family pet, died this week and he wants to know, 'Will Nathan see her again in heaven?"
Great question, right? Because it pertains to pets as well as people. Who... and what goes to heaven? What's the criteria? Is there a cut-off where you and I, if the our cumulative amount of lifetime sin reaches a certain tipping point that we slide off into an eternal abyss?
The Holy Spirit gets all the credit. Kneeling on the ground, I took Nathan's hand and said, "Know what the Bible says? That God knows us so well and loves us so much, that if even a tiny bird falls down and gets hurt, God is there and God cares." (Matthew 10). Nathan nodded, wiped his nose with his sleeve, and gave me a hug that said, "I guess I can trust God to take care of this."
This Palm Sunday weekend we wrap up our series, "Famous Last Words," of Jesus with this final installment from Luke 23, "Today you will be with me in paradise." Our preaching theme: "Who's in heaven?"

New Bible Study Coming:
Run for God's 5K Challenge
Join us in the exciting, new small group for Run for God's 5K Challenge!  Run for God's 5K Challenge is a 12-week (beginning after Easter) Bible study program that allows runners to combine faith and endurance training in a way that helps take people, even those who have never run, through their first 5K.  This group will be part Bible study and part training program. The primary goal is to learn to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ while understanding the parallels of enduring a sport like running and enduring your faith. Check out the sign up sheet on Clipboard Central, or contact Julie Emerson for more info! The cost is $30 per person and we will order books after Easter.
Easter Photo Booth - Say Cheese!
Plan to bring in the family, grab a couple props and have some goofy fun, because Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, 3/24 and 4/1 the Living Water Photo Booth will be open. No cost, no sweat. We'd totally love to get your family's photo up on the LW family board. Openings: 1 hour before worship and 1 hour after. Say cheese!
Wednesday Worship
Each Wednesday for the past 5 weeks, we've been treated to a hearty yet simple meal of soup and sandwiches, enjoyed relaxed conversation with friends old and new in the LW Café, shared laughs generated by the LW Acting Troupe, and had our souls filled with the rhythms of Holden Evening Prayer. To one & all who contributed in any way to the success of crafting these unique midweek Lenten experiences, thank you!
Save Your UPC Codes
Luther Bible Camp is collecting "Our Family" brand UPC codes off grocery items.  Throughout 2018 any UPC codes you collect (we do not need the entire label, just the physical UPC code) will be sent to Luther Park and your donations will be turned into money for programs they do on Lake Chetek.  A collection container will be in the back of church.  Thank you for supporting this important resource for both children and adults.
Cast & Crew of AMP
We will be setting up for the "Passion" after church this Sunday.  If you are able, please stay and help!!   Also, our first rehearsal is scheduled for this Sunday, March 25 at 6pm for staging walk-through, then 7-9:30pm for full program practice!!   Please make every effort to be there!!
A Mother's Passion: The Passion of Christ Through Mary's Eyes
Please join us for "A Mother's Passion:  The Passion of Christ Through Mary's Eyes".  This emotionally raw updated production of the Good Friday story, arranged by Janine Hansen (in loving memory of her son, Auhston Hansen 1983-2015), will be told through modern song and staging.   Performances will be held at Living Water Church on Wed, March 28 through Fri, March 30 at 7pm, with a dessert reception to follow each night.   Admission is free (with a free will offering to benefit family tragedies). Powerful new songs (and some new faces) will captivate your heart. Come lose yourself in this age-old story of Christ's journey to the Cross.

Meet the Living Water Family of the Week
Names: Sarah Joosten & Alex Plum
Something interesting about our household:
Well, we don't quite have our household yet since we're still in school and planning our wedding, BUT we think our future household is developing into one of a mini Mike and Beth Joosten. Alex is graduating in December to be a band director and Sarah will graduate this May to be a choir director. We're excited to have a household full of music, similar to the ones we grew up in.
How we became connected to Living Water:
Sarah has been a member of LW since the beginning, and was blessed enough to be one of the members of the first confirmation class of LW. Alex became connected with LW when we outshopped the churches of Eau Claire. We had been looking around Eau Claire for a while at many different churches, and just couldn't find the fit. So, Sarah convinced Alex to make the 40 minute drive with her to LW, and after one service, he loved it too! So it's been our church home ever since. Sarah's even got him wrapped up in playing brass and singing in the choir on Christmas and Easter. Sarah is excited to have found a partner who loves her home church as much as she does, and now they get to get married in it!
What we like about Living Water:
We love how welcoming LW is! We both feel like long time members, even though we started our membership as a team only a year and a half ago. The atmosphere on Sunday morning makes the drive worth it! We both particularly love the sharing of the peace, because it takes like 15 minutes for everyone to hug everyone else in the church. You don't see that in other churches. We also love how serving the church is. Many of the mission projects we can still participate in as poor college students because they find a way for everyone to use their gifts and help. We love the community the most. Our church friends are our family and our lives would not be the same without them and the way they model Christ's love for us.
