Just a reminder that the St. Martin's Annual Parish weekend is right around the corner (September 5-7, 2014). The registration form can be found on the church website (stmartins-charlotte.org) and can be returned to the church office or to Corbin or Natalie Meek. If you have any questions, please contact the Meeks at 704-365-6645 or ndmead@gmail.com.

A few notes on the weekend which require early sign up:
  • There will be a Women's Cabin this year, if you are interested in staying in this cabin, please email Natalie and note this information on your form
  • If you are interested in playing 9 or 18 holes of golf, please email Natalie
We need YOU to join the Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is looking for a few willing volunteers (both men and women) to help set up before the service and clean up after. It is a very minimal time commitment - only one week every other month! It's a great way to learn about what goes on "behind the scenes" every Sunday. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Peg Deschamps at 704-362-0829 or pegdeschamps@hotmail.com

Flower Guild
Are you interested in arranging flowers for church and other special occasions? If so, have you considered joining St. Martin's Flower Guild?
Please contact Babs Highfill at 704-334-1864 if you would like more information or to volunteer.

EfM (Education for Ministry)
We are happy to announce the formation of a Tuesday night (7-9:30 pm) group. If this makes it possible for you to become a part of EfM, please fill in a revised yellow sheet in the vestibule, or notify the church office (704-376-8441 or staff@stmartins-charlotte.org). EfM is an effective program for adults who want to explore more deeply their faith and how it relates to their daily living. The program includes home readings and 30 weekly seminars on Wednesdays, either in the morning or in the evening. Completion of the program takes four years, but you sign up for one year at a time. More information can be found on the yellow sheet.
Bibliognostics will continue discussing Immortal Diamond by Richard Rohr. We'll finish Chapter 5 (Thou Art That) and hopefully the short Chapter 6 (If It Is True, It Is True Everywhere). Please join us for an interesting and enlightening discussion. If you have any questions, contact Bob Payet at bobandandiepayet@gmail.com or 704-488-2065.
Thank you to all who contributed to Mecklenburg Ministries' annual Interfaith Youth Services & Leadership Camp In Our Own Backyard. Your generosity helped the Camp leaders to open the eyes of campers to both the beauty of different Faith Traditions and the harsh reality of poverty"in our own backyard" of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
