     Annual Mission Day
St. Martin's Annual Parish Mission Day will be Saturday, September 13th. Mission Day is a day of active service. For about four hours, you will work with a team of your fellow parishioners to make a real difference in our community. Projects and work sites have yet to be determined. That day, we will meet at St. Martin's at 7:30 am for a light breakfast before heading our to the respective work sites. Please email Tom Currier for additional information or any questions: [email protected]
El Hogar Sunday
Please join Team Hogar on Sunday, August 31st at 9:15 am in the Fellowship Hall for a presentation about our mission trip to El Hogar, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. El Hogar's mission is to transform and empower abandoned and hopelessly poor children in Honduras by providing a loving home and education. We will share moving stories and fun pictures and refreshments. We hope to see you there!

On Our Way Rejoicing LAST CLASS TONIGHT

Tonight - July 31 - Mr. Terry Robertson - local funeral director will talk about writing your obituary and making final arrangements.

Come join the lively conversation!

Hearthside Groups
Are you interested in getting to know some of your fellow parishioners better? The purpose of the Hearthside Groups is to gather together with other St. Martin's members in small, casual groups outside of church for food and fellowship. We will be kicking off new Hearthside Groups in September, and we would love to have you join us! If you are interested, please fill out the Participation Survey or contact Bronwyn Ford at
[email protected] or 704-968-5099 for more information.
Blessing of the Backpacks!
Back to school time is fast approaching. On Sunday, August 24th, following the 10:30 am service, all school-aged children and youth, along with teachers, volunteers, etc., are invited together, with their school backpacks, in the fellowship courtyard for a special blessing. Children are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church.

In coordination with this event, and to share our blessings with our friends in South Dakota, during the month of August we will collect backpacks, school supplies, and donations for the children of the Cheyenne River Reservation.
Bibliognostics will meet on Sunday, August 3rd to continue discussing Immortal Diamond by Richard Rohr. We'll discuss Chapter 7 (Enlightenment at Gunpoint). Please join us for an interesting and enligntening discussion. If you have questions, please contact Bob Payet at [email protected] or 704-488-2065. Our next book will be The Gnostic Gospels by Elaine Pagels, published by Random House originally in 1979.

MeckFUSE is a housing program for homeless men and women with health issues who have been frequent users of Mecklenburg's jail, street camps and shelters.

MeckFUSE helps clients stay in stable, affordable apartments and offers support for their needs. The program uses public dollars responsibly by reducing costs associated with the criminal justice system and emergency shelters. MeckFUSE subsidizes rent and works with clients to remain safe and housed. It assures access to medical, mental health and substance abuse care and treatment. The program helps rebuild family and community connections.

This has been a busy summer of move-ins for MeckFUSE! As we continue providing housing, we're running low on a few essentials. We are currently in need of pots & pans, mops, laundry baskets, shower curtains, pillows, trashcans and dish racks. If you can supply any of these items, please contact Angie Forde at 704-340-4543 or [email protected]

Summer Choir
If you would enjoy singing in the choir but don't have the time to rehearse on Thursdays during the year, come join us on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. to rehearse to sing at the 10:30 a.m. service. Ages 15 and up are welcome! Even if you can only sing occasionally, please come. We have a great time together and it is fun to get to know new people. Visitors are welcome too! If you are interested, please call Budd Kirby (704-756-2903) or email him at [email protected]. Hope to see you at choir on Sundays this summer.
Budd Kirby, Director of Music Ministries/Organist

We need YOU to join the Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is looking for a few willing volunteers (both men and women) to help set up before the service and clean up after. It is a very minimal time commitment - only one week every other month! It's a great way to learn about what goes on "behind the scenes" every Sunday. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Peg Deschamps at 704-362-0829 or [email protected]

Flower Guild
Develop your flower arranging skills and join the St. Martin's Flower Guild!
Please contact Babs Highfill at 704-334-1864 if you would like more information or to volunteer.
