Walking in Faith through Fellowship

One of God's gifts to us is the fellowship of our faith community. Kanuga is not just a special place...but also a special experience with fellow parishioners. It's a chance to share a slower time, meals, songs, quiet moments, laughs, talents, and faith.

Walk through the GROW door of The Great Invitation and join in the fellowship at Kanuga.

If you've never been to Kanuga, come learn why it is so special!
If it has been a while, come back!
If you come every year, we'll see you there!

"Religion on the Tube
What are our youth watching on TV, in the movie theater, or on their computers and where does their faith fit in?  In this time together, we will look at different TV shows, movies, and documentaries to see how Christianity and religion are portrayed in them.  Are the portrayals we see on TV positive or negative?  Which shows poke fun at Christianity and what shows promote it?  The hope for this class is to help parents find a movie or show they can watch with your youth, which could lead to a discussion about faith, religion, or morality.  We will look at a variety of shows and movies including!

Family Friendly Work for All Ages!

Please bring with you  (if you have them!) :
  • Wheelbarrows
  • Pitchforks
  • Rakes
We also need someone with a pickup truck who doesn't mind hauling away debris that has been collected-please contact Shelley Bonnin ( s.bonnin@icloud.com) if you are able to help with this!

Are you looking for a way to step up? The Funeral Reception Ministry needs the involvement of more women and men. Receptions are so appreciated by family members, and more help is needed for this ministry. The tasks include preparing tables, setting out food, and cleaning up. Contact Charlotte Pfeifer to explore this ministry - 704-643-6615 or ckpfeifer@gmail.com

Remember to bring your non-perishable items to church with you and help fill our little red wagon for Loaves and Fishes!  The  Loaves and Fishes  food pantry counts on our donations to help feed the hungry in our community! Thank you!

St. John's Room in the Inn...ALL VOLUNTEER SLOTS ARE FILLED!! Thanks to all past and future volunteers. We have most toiletry items taken care of with the exception of travel size deodorant ($0.97 each at Walmart) and Earplugs. We have a sweat clothing angel who has done a great job of building up our supply (the angel's hint is to go to Goodwill). We have the following need for sweat clothing: Small, Medium, Large, and XXL pants. We could use some XXXXL Tops. Items can be placed in a basket near the clergy offices behind the reception desk.

With the exception of certain liturgical seasons, the sanctuary altar is adorned with beautiful flowers as a memorial or in thanksgiving of special people/events. The calendar is posted in the hallway between the main reception area and Tilson Hall.  Please consider becoming a donor for the open dates this spring: APRIL 15-16 (EASTER WEEKEND), APRIL 29-30, and MAY 13-14. Interested persons should consider available dates and contact Charlotte Pfeifer at 704-643-6615 or ckpfeifer@gmail.com

Giving 2017 Update:
As you may recall, Nan+ asked the congregation to continue giving at the same level as 2016 at a minimum.  Unfortunately, our income for January 2017 was 15% ($15,000) below that given in January 2016.  As we prepare for Commitment Sunday on March 26th, please continue to give generously so that St. John's can meet its financial commitments and ministry goals.
